Accolade Moving & Storage Services Reviews (%countItem)

there services can best be described as extortion. they started out by giving us an approximately $1300 estimate. then, after loading all our stuff onto a rented truck two days late, they turned around and gave us a $2200 bill! then they "lost" our money and demanded the we wire them more! all the wile the were holding our stuff in a warehouse until we got both banks involved and the owner "magically" found our money. two weeks later our stuff shows up and the driver demands the final payment without letting us even inspect our possessions. Turns out this is intentional because every single box and furniture piece we shipped with them arrived damage! to top it all off they won't take our calls. terrible company, do not use!

Accolade Moving & Storage Services Response • Aug 25, 2020

We would need to know which client this is. We do not have any clients named John Doe.

DO NOT USE.
Poor customer service, should I say more like no customer service. Many of our boxes were
damaged by improper handling by the movers, including boxes clearly labeled as fragile. They added additional fees on top of the moving estimate. In addition, our delivery was delayed 4 weeks and we were forced to accept the delivery on the 4th of July.
We asked for reimbursement due to the improper handling, and Accolades Moving ignored our request. STAY AWAY from doing any business with them

We apologize for your experience using our company. We are more than happy to help you file a claim for any damaged items from your move. Please feel free to call us at 866.603.7080

Accolade movers came to move my family from va to NY. The initial binding bid was good. Tom said that it could go up if the movers had to do extra things or if more boxes are moved then what was quoted. The binding bid contract also states that if more boxes are needed to be moved or if more furniture is to be moved, that a new contract will be issued and needed to be signed before anything is loaded onto the moving truck. My wife was in VA dealing with this as I was in NY working. The movers loaded everything on the truck, and handed my wife a new contract to sign. The new contract was double what the original binding bid contract. So I called the dispatcher and talked to a Robert. I am old him that I am not paying this price. He told me that we would work something out before the movers delivered our items to NY. To make a long story short, I was charged for tape and moving blankets( that’s what Robert explained you me). I was double charged a fuel charge. Another gentlemen named Alfonso told me that he talked to Sam( Alfonso said he was an owner), and Sam said nothing is going to change that we can pay them what is owed or we don’t get our belongings. I tried fighting it. We paid for the beds to be put back together, boxes put in the right rooms, and couches to be unwrapped. That did not happen. The movers were gone before I got home from work around 6pm. I spent till 1 in the morning putting beds together, unwrapping beds and box springs. My wife had to unwrap the couch. Not to mention the many many dishes and cups that are broken. My big tv is broken, and we had boxes and plastic totes smashed, especially the ones that had fragile wrote on them. I called and talked to Robert and Alfonso on the following Saturday and Monday. I was told to make a claim with the company’s insurance and that they are not refunding money for time spent putting beds together and unwrapping items. Not to mention the many times I had called to try and resolve these problems I was hung up on. Some of the items that were broken can not be replaced. Very very unhappy. Should have spent the extra money and had one of the big name companies do our move. Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Accolade Moving & Storage Services Response • Aug 05, 2020

Mr. Bailey, we apologize that you felt poorly about your moving experience. Your moving blankets were free on your quote, however any extra packing supplies were not included with your estimate. The fuel surcharge is just a percentage of your total move. You were not double charged for fuel. Our foreman indicated that your wife did not confirm that she wanted them to reassemble the furniture. We can of course help you file a claim for any damaged goods.

Let me start off by saying I NEVER BOTHER TO WRITE REVIEWS. But I will make an exception this time. First they charged double the quoted price for the exact items that were quoted in the original quote the day the movers arrived. According to the movers the customer service person has no idea how to quote moves.
I was scheduled to move on a Monday morning and the movers arrived the Sunday before after 5pm. They lost some of my items during the move, broke and destroyed 4 pieces of furniture. They also wrote on one of my item with permanent marker, smashed and broke multiple boxes and dishes. And most of my furniture now has an odd smell as if it were left in the rain. When I called the office I was put on hold and then hung up on. And then when I called back no one answered. When I did speak to someone he was no help whatsoever. And last but not least nothing is covered by their liability insurance and outside liability insurance wont cover them either.

We are truly sorry for your poor experience with our company. Please contact us so we can resolve any issues at 866.603.7080

Let me start by saying I am in customer service and I would NEVER treat a customer like this!!
I am rating this company with one star ONLY because of the great beginning (Scott R. was fantastic with my initial quote and communication) and thankfully getting my 7 items delivered after much stress and aggravation (movers were pretty awesome - tipped them extra). EVERYTHING else about this was horrible - I wouldn't recommend. Here's the details. Note the move was for 7 pieces of furniture from PA to GA
- Booked move, with deposit on 5/22. Was assured via e-mail that I would get my items very close to delivery date of 7/8 as pick-up scheduled for 6/29 or 6/30 (have the e-mail to prove this and shared with company).
- Prior to pick-up had to follow-up multiple times - only to be told that truck had mechanical issues. Pick-up never occurred until 7/1. All items were in garage for easy loading. When pick-up occurred was charged $367 additional for over-sized headboard which I was already quoted $150 for.
- As 7/8 date approached had to call multiple times about delivery date - was told couldn't guarantee 7/8 as per their 21-day delivery window in contract. Also had explained to me they needed 3-4 moves to put my stuff with in order to deliver (truck only goes South every 7-10 days).
- I asked if I could pay an extra fee to guarantee delivery between 7/8-7/10 due to our specific situation and also sent the e-mail about the 7/8 date not being an issue. Was told they'd need to check and it would be an additional $1,250!! I said I would agree if that meant guarantee of date. Got a call back on 7/6, stating they could do it for the premium fee.
- Started calls with dispatch (Alfonse and Robert) on 7/8 to find out when stuff would arrive. First supposed to be 7/9, then changed to 7/10. Stuff arrived on 7/10 at 5:45pm - just prior to garage entrance to freight elevator closing (after I had to reserve multiple times). Learned after I paid cash that the movers had 2 other moves in GA that night and another the next morning.
- I was lied to - they had 4 moves in my area including mine, and they still charged me an additional $1,250 in addition to what I already paid and the remaining balance of my move!
I can honestly say that this was one of the worst experiences of my life - very upsetting, stressful, etc. When a company has your stuff and you feel trapped, it's awful. This is not the way a company should operate. If the company wanted to rectify the situation, they would give me my premium fee back - I sent an e-mail and told them I'd be writing this review. Let's see if they make it right. Doubtful.

Accolade Moving & Storage Services Response • Aug 05, 2020

Dear valued customer,
Your initial estimate was for general delivery window. You then decided the general delivery window was too long. The other options are expedited delivery price and guaranteed delivery price. No one said to pay the expedited price to receive your items. The option was to pay that for RUSH GUARANTEED DELIVERY. Everyone else on the trip was willing to wait for the for that regular delivery schedule. In order to make sure you were happy we had to expedite the trip. If you re-read your estimate it clearly informs you of the delivery schedule. You essentially wanted express guaranteed delivery for regular pricing.

I made a reservation and paid a deposit with Accolade for a long-distance move on 6/2/20. Over the phone, and as is reflected in the Binding Moving Estimate I received from Accolade Moving, I stressed that my lease was scheduled to end on Monday, 6/29/20, and that the pickup would need to be completed by then. We agreed that if this condition could not be met, then the move would be done at an earlier date instead. I was told that Dispatch would call me 1-3 days prior to the move with a time window for pickup.

On the evening prior to my scheduled pickup, I was concerned that I had not received the promised call, so I called the provided Dispatch number myself, and after 2 attempts I reached an agent who informed me that he was unable to reach the main dispatch office to give me a pickup time window but notified me that they had been backed up recently and that there was a possibility that my pickup would be delayed. This was the first I had heard of any such possibility. A followup call (by me) the following morning confirmed that the pickup would likely not be completed until Thursday or Friday of that week, and the dispatch agent suggested that I "try to find someone else" to complete the move.

As a result of Accolade's failure to fulfill its agreement and failure to notify me of such with any reasonable advance notice, I was forced to scramble and find an alternative moving company to complete the job on the day my lease was scheduled to end. Due to the last-minute nature of the booking, the most cost-effective alternative I was able to secure was $2,688.24 in excess of the original estimate provided to me by Accolade for the same job.

Accolade has refused to compensate me for the damages caused by their breach of contract and failure to notify me that they would not be completing the move I had reserved. They offered only to refund my deposit, but not even that has occurred. Therefore I am reaching out to the Revdex.com for assistance.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

A deposit refund would have been the appropriate remedy if Accolade Moving and Storage had informed me of their inability to provide the service they agreed to provide with any reasonable advance notice. The primary issue is that not only did Accolade's movers not show up as scheduled, but Accolade did not inform me at all of a possible delay. This forced me to scramble to find alternative movers at the absolute last minute as my lease ended on the date of my scheduled move and I was required to vacate my apartment on that day. Naturally, finding someone to complete the job the same day (actually the earliest I was able to secure an alternative company was the following day, and this forced me to incur further costs due to having to negotiate with my landlord to extend my lease by a day and pay extra for last-minute turnover services such as cleaning and painting) was far more expensive than the original quote given to me by Accolade when I arranged the move nearly a month ahead of time.

When I arranged the move with Accolade's Sales representative (and as you will find documented in the attachment), I emphasized that the move would need to be completed by June 29th due to my lease ending, and if there were any issues with this it would be completed at an earlier date, and their Sales representative verbalized understanding and agreement with this. Accolade was aware of my circumstances and could reasonably anticipate that their lack of notification that they would not show up as promised would result in harm to me in the form of greatly increased moving costs--and in fact it did.

Accolade Moving and Storage negligently and directly caused harm and they are responsible for remedying the damage they caused. Their refusal to do so speaks volumes about their reputability as a company.

As a final note, I will observe that Accolade's representatives promised to provide me with an immediate deposit refund multiple times both verbally and in writing beginning on 7/2/20, and it is only after I filed this complaint, nearly 3 weeks later (after giving them ample warning that I would do so), that they have appeared to take any action toward fulfilling even that minimal and inadequate resolution.

Regards

Dale P
DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!! I am rating them at zero stars. We were scheduled for a Wednesday pickup, with an alternate of Tuesday. Tuesday passes, so we figured pickup on Wednesday as scheduled. We called Wednesday to find out a time frame for pickup, and were told that they can't make it because they are booked. Even with the contract in hand and deposit made, we were on the phone with dispatch all afternoon trying to find out what happened, and why we were not serviced. Was told numerous times by four different people in dispatch that someone will call you back shortly. Even a supervisor said let me get to the bottom of this, I'll get right back to you. Still haven't heard from anyone and it's now Friday. Had to change hotel reservations, flights, and get the electric and gas not to turn off service.
Once again DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!!

Accolade Moving & Storage Services Response • Jun 30, 2020

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have endured. We did not contact you back because you cancelled the job outright.

I spoke with a sales rep that goes by a stage name of JB. he was very easy to get a hold of when I was trying to figure out my move date and everything. I told him I could move into my new apartment on June 23rd and I need my furniture and clothes there by the 23rd. he assured, no, guaranteed me that in order to have my belongings there by the 23rd the movers would have to come no later then June 11th. I told JB that sounds good I will just sleep on the floor for a few nights before I drive down to my new apartment. He gave me my "estimate" of 1298. I asked him what is the most it would be if I had them come and box everything. he said the most this would be is 1300 and some change. I said ok that sounds good. (this is all on a recorded line unless the scam company deleted there phone calls).

3 movers came to my apt on June 11 to move all of stuff out and immediately started to have "extra" charges. the first charge was the distance from the elevator to my apt was too far so they had to charge me a $75 fee for that. Next once they got into my apartment they told my the sales rep size charge was not enough and it would take up more space in the truck therefore they would need to charge me more. $525 more. then they had to charge me an extra $305 for tape, wrap and some other things to box up 2 dressers, a bed, couch, and 2 tvs. Mind you, these were al he "extra" charges came to over $700 dollars and now I would have to get a rent a big rental car to put the boxes they were suppose to take but now im stuck with them because of the "extra" charges.

today Jennifer called me to let me know the truck is loading up my stuff on Sunday and should be there in 3-14 days. again they told me verbally over the phone my belongings would be there guaranteed by 23rd. Jennifer(dispatcher) and Ann(manager) did not care at all and by the reviews online it seems like this happens a lot with this company.

The initial conversation with the owner Alfonse had me thinking my love would be a great experience. However they hiked the price up from 320.00 to 760.00 I fought to get it to 670.00 and because I paid before the final move as they were holding my stuff hostage, they cheated me an hour that I am fighting my credit card company to give me back! Please read the google reviews! This company is HORRIBLE and DISHONEST.

Accolade Moving & Storage Services Response • Jun 26, 2020

We are more than happy to submit original emails between client. Client initially was given an all inclusive quote, but then asked us to price match another quote that was not all inclusive. Alfonse informed Ms. Briddell on the day prior to the move to make sure she had ample packing supplies. Client did not want all inclusive quote, but then complained that she would need to pay for extra services. She then proceeded to prolong the move by arguing with the foreman the entire step of the way. When the driver took was forced to take an alternative route in DC that allows trucks Ms. Briddell threatened to call the police. We believe she was unreasonable in the matter, mind you she moved from close to an hour away from her destination.

Don’t use this company! Movers arrived with Way to small of a truck for the job and the estimate was 4 hours it took 8 hours because of repacking the tiny truck and then they had to strap 2 mattresses to the back outside of the truck! Then they held my stuff hostage and wanted me to pay before they unloaded the truck! Time wasted cost me money! Their website says accurate estimates and 110% satisfaction that’s a joke when I asked for a 2 hour refund for lost time and aggravation the next day they said sorry you already paid for the service! It didn’t matter that I wasn’t satisfied! Sales will tell you what you want to hear then reality hits! Good luck if you book this company!

Accolade Moving & Storage Services Response • Jun 17, 2020

Client misrepresented how large his job was. Sale representative quoted him for 2 men for a small apartment move, but clearly was a job for 3 men. If client had represented the size of his job truthfully they would have shown up with a larger truck and a 3rd guy. We apologize for any extra time for the men stacking the small truck, but client knows very well that is not what made the quote go from 3 to 8 hours.

If I could give this company no stars I would. As many on here have said, they jack up the prices once they get to your home and essentially double your quote. I have been fighting back and forth with this company since before my move. The original place I was moving from was a sky rise building where you need to reserve the elevator for any move. We talked with our sales associate JB and he noted the date and time which our reservation was for and said it would not be an issue - the time was Thursday May 21st from 9 am - 12 PM, at 12 another tenant would have the elevator. Tuesday the 19th Im at work I get a phone call from them saying they are coming the next day Wednesday the 20th from 7-11 AM, rights to elevator in the building don’t start until 9 due to condo rules plus I didn’t have the elevator reserved. Back and forth back forth with someone named Allison on the phone who was telling me that my building can allow me to me she does 300 moves a month and she knows. Please lady, tell me more about what my condo building rules are and that they can accommodate you. Finally after the entire day of going back and forth and telling them it is not possible and threatening to cancel the entire job because the elevator wasn’t reserved, they told me they would do it at the original scheduled time. Come Thursday, after all this issue with elevator reservations, the guy calls and says he won’t be here till like 11:30 - 12 PM. I explained I only had the elevator until 12 so that was going to be an issue. Now newly pregnant and knowing the issues we were having with accolade, my building had sympathy for me and was able to squeeze in an hour in the late afternoon for us to use the elevator. I call him back and say he can do the job from 3-4 feel free to come early to start staging stuff. Well I’m at work (because I only took off from 9-1 because our move was scheduled then) my boyfriend calls me and explains the whole extra charges to me. Now I need to leave work - take time with no pay to and deal with this in person. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, packed up EVERYTHING MY SELF IN BOXES AND MY OWN TAPE. 75$ for tape they tried to charge me and packing up my furniture and TV which JB said was included. Now trying to get ahold of the sales associate who provided me this contract was like trying to get ahold of movie star that didn’t exist, no phone calls back nothing. After receiving the additional 800 dollars to my estimated price, I said take everything off the truck, I’m not doing this. My stuff was essentially held hostage, I feared for my property and something happening to it. Finally after two hours of sitting in my apartment waiting for their dispatch to call, they agreed to meet down the middle. I get my stuff two weeks later, my fears came to fruition - everything is damaged. My wood furniture is scratched our gauges/chunks of wood is missing from it. In addition to the damaged property, we are missing a white chest of drawers and a kitchen cart. Convenient? No one knows where they are. How can that be? If you didn’t try to deliver it to somewhere else, you stole it. The company takes zero responsibility and ive been instructed to call CSI, they provided a non working number for us and their contract with them is under future van lines. Avoid this company like the plague! Our lawyer is now involved and contacting the company for full refund and retribution for damages and stolen property.

Accolade Moving & Storage Services Response • Jun 09, 2020

Please accept our apology for any stress that happened with this move. We are more than happy to work with you through the claims process to get reimbursement for lost/damaged items. Unfortunately if you add items to your long distance move it can change the pricing very easily.

I received a quote for services, provided all photos of our things and made sure to be honest in all items and sizes..

Moving company was to call before arrival, never did. Arrived in a penske truck and no identification or company affiliation. My wife called me scared because she is home alone and there are two men she never met in a small truck that the company never told us about.

They immediately started working after I called customer care and let them know and made sure they belonged there.

There is no complaint about the work the movers did at this time, except that they spoke very little english and was a barrier to communicate.

All the sudden at the end of the move and closing everything up, they approached my wife and asked for money, I just called customer care and they were going to have us pay in full at delivery which would have solved issues, but no...

The company did not communicate internally and the dispatcher was rude and unprofessional to say the least and demanded I be present or that we could pay cash or check.. that credit card due to "security" was not going to be accepted! However, strange enough no security concern when came to reserving and giving a deposit initially over the internet? Signed and executed three versions of contracts.

After a lot of arguing and me almost calling the police for a scam, they accepted my wife's credit card.

They also charged me $400 more for packing and fees without foreknowledge or understanding of what was going on..

I do not recommend this company, it's practices, its customer service and has no continuity or unifying principals, it does not communicate, does not care how it treats it's customers.

To Whom It May Concern,This client's desired resolution was to "finish the job" of which we did on time last month. Most of the client's concerns while may be understandable were unwarranted. Our men were courteous, he was in communication with us the whole time and we finished the job just as he wanted. Thank youACCOLADE MOVING

To begin - DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!
Why you may ask? Well, they're liars and crooks to be blunt. First, I dealt with a salesman named Tom. He was incredibly polite and seemingly helpful. Nearly all of my questions were answered in the affirmative. He promised that if I had my things ready for pickup then they would be able to deliver them in 7 to 14 business days. He advised I schedule pickup 14 days prior to preferred delivery - that way, he said, it would surely be available for delivery within a day or two of my preferred date. At this point, I felt this was going well and perhaps this would be an overall good experience. I mean, Tom was just "so" accomadating. SYKE. That all ended once they had picked up my items.
Following pickup, I recieve a call from Robert "in dispatch" - now, once they have your items, Tom falls off the face of the earth. All calls are automatically routed to dispatch. Robert says he is calling to explain the process - which is weird since Tom and I had already spoke in length about "the process." Well, the process Tom had sold me was not the process that the company actually uses. Robert even acknowledged that Tom had misinformed me. Robert stated that Tom didn't really know the process since he was in sales and that's why dispatch calls you. At this point, I'm not happy as I'm being told that the weekly trucks from DC to California aren't actually weekly. Oh, and once a truck is available that it would be between 7 - 11 business days before the items would actually be delivered. So, they have no real schedule for trucks AND we've gone from 7-14 days from pickup (from my apt) to 7-11 business days from whenever a truck decides to show up. Now, since Robert thinks a truck is coming the next week, he'll call to let me know once he talks with "the higher ups." He never actually calls back. So, I call them and each time I'm told a truck is not available and they will call me when one is available. Fast foward THREE weeks - I call them and am told a truck is being loaded that day. I can expect my items in 10-15 days - what the hell happened to 7-11 business days??? No idea.
Anyways, I end up speaking with a "dispatch supervisor" who apparently is also part owner as he refuses to transfer my call to "the higher ups" claiming he was "the higher ups." On the call he would only repeat the same phrases over and over again "10-15 days"; "Ma'am have you ever used a moving company before?"; and my favorite "that's why we call after pickup to explain the process." Ummmm.. maybe you should explain the process before you took my money???? Or at least explain the process to Tom - because he is just making crap up at this point.
Finally, 11 days after the truck departs DC it arrives at my apartment. I had flagged that they would need to get "a shuttle" since an 18 wheeler couldn't fit in the complex parking lot. It states on the contract in one place that a shuttle is $300 for the first 500cf of items; farther down in the contract is states a shuttle is $300 for the first 400cf of items. Luckily I had less that 400cf so I didn't have to argue with the uber intelligent and trustworthy "dispatch supervisor" in DC (note the sarcasm). BUT Y'ALL the movers say they've gotten a shuttle but its just the same moving truck they drove from DC with a 15 ft clearance on it. They also inform me that it's actually going to be $350 for the shuttle (that they didn't even have to get). He also says that if that truck can't fit into the parking lot (15 footer) that the U haul wouldn't fit either since its a 10ft clearance to get into the parking lot and uhauls are a 12ft clearance - this is a LIE. A Uhaul big enough to move 400cf has less than a 9ft clearance. Now, this is important because they charge you extra if they have to walk more than 50ft to deliver your things - this is a charge by each additional 50 ft and we we're looking at no less than 200ft from their big af truck to my apartment door. Luckily, I find an entrance that they can fit through and the unloading commences.
The movers, at pickup and delivery, were friendly and quick. However, EVERY SINGLE BOX WAS DAMAGED. A bookshelf had the back broken out of it. Two boxes were torn on the sides - items falling out. The most damaged box was the only box with "FRAGILE" marked on the side - like, why and how did this happen????? So, I start to file a claim on the bookcase as it was a favorite - obviously or I wouldn't have moved it across the country. Well, I register - which is what you have to do before you wait 48 hours for them to "verify your info" - and start looking at reviews. EVERY SINGLE ONE IS 1 STAR! People stating it takes months and months to get only a few dollars for valuable furniture that they trusted to the moving company's this "third party claims processing company" represents.
Moral of the story - only use this company if you want the stress of moving multiplied exponetially and your items damaged. Accolade is a rip off!

Re: Complaint ID; ***
We apologize that the client had a poor experience with our moving company. We understand that moving is stressful as it is and we would never want to add to that stress. We have spoken to the foreman of the job and reviewed the paperwork. The adjustment in price was mainly due to the fact that Mr. Allen had more items than he had originally informed our salesperson about. Secondly, the packing materials he wanted to use were inadequate to ensure protection of his goods on the trip. After reviewing his case we are unable to give any more discounts seeing as how we already discounted his move over $500. Again we apologize for any inconvenience in the process and we do appreciate your business.Thank youManagement?--ACCOLADE MOVING

I am rejecting this response because:I had got what they told me to get for packing supplies they did not specify what ones to get also they destroyed some of my property and they never got back to me on that issue and the over 500 dollars they say they discount me was all put back on my account after they had use there boxes and bags instead of what I had and I may had not much more than what I told the foreman and then that Forman and company only gives me 10 min or so notice that they was going to be there when I’m contract I’m supposed to be given 24 hour notice on time they would show. Also they threaten me if I even tried to get ahold of you the better business burrow they would throw my stuff from the truck into the street and charge me at least another thousand more and I don’t like being told they will do one thing then do something else I do think I deserve more money back and I will not give up fighting this company until I get a real apology and some of my money back this is what I deserve my family and I didn’t deserve there disrespect to us thank you and I’m not giving up.
Regards
