On January 30, 2016, [redacted] called and asked for a copy of his 2012 & 2013 tax returns to be faxed to him. [redacted] told...

him at that time she would be happy to do that for him, but he had a balance due of $50 since 2012 that needed to be taken care of first. He paid over the phone with a credit card and she faxed the info he had requested. On Monday, February 1, 2016 he called and informed her that someone had told him that his 2013 should be amended and that he should have filed "head of household". [redacted] told him at that time that our normal fee for amending a return was $45, but she was unsure to give him a specific price. If it was something that we should have caught the first time, we would do the amended return for no charge. I told him that she would need to speak with a tax preparer before she gave him a quote. That afternoon [redacted] spoke with a tax preparer and the tax return was amended. [redacted] called him the next day and told him the tax return had been amended and there would be no charge. He was told that the return would be ready by noon on Friday. [redacted] says that she had not called him a liar and did not feel that she had been rude. [redacted] feels that he was upset about the 2013 and would not listen to any kind of explanations she was trying to give him. [redacted], another employee in our office overheard [redacted]'s side of the conversation. [redacted] said that [redacted] was trying to explain to Mr [redacted] the procedures for amending a tax return. Mr [redacted] kept cutting [redacted] off when she would try to explain the procedure. During this conversation, [redacted] never raised her voice or called him any derogatory names. He picked the amended return up on February 8th and said thank you for amending the return at no charge. Mr [redacted] had originally dropped off his 2012 information. When taxpayers pick their return up, the return is reviewed with them. There was a misunderstanding between Mr [redacted] and our office on his filing status. As to not create any further problems with Mr [redacted] our office decided not to charge him for the amended return.
