Unfortunately, even though all was filed correctly on our part, the taxing authority (State) did not receive the funds that were due, resulting in penalties. The correct forms were filed to have the funds electronically withdrawn from the client’s bank account. The reason the taxing
authority did not withdraw the funds could be due to account closure, insufficient funds, or something else. Once we were made aware of it, we gave the client explicit directions on how to best remedy the situation. We also provided the client with a letter to sign and mail to the taxing authority, requesting that they waive the penalties, at no extra cost, which the taxpayer should hear back on shortly. In addition we offered to help in the future if the penalty abatement is granted but a request for refund form needs to be filed, also at no additional cost. We have multiple emails to support that the client received timely correspondences from ATS. The amount of penalties and interest the client is unlawfully demanding is $107.07. Accounting & Tax Services would be willing to reimburse the client the $in good faith if the client can demonstrate that they did not receive waiver from the taxing authority (state)
