Accurate Appliance

Review: I am filing this complaint on behalf of my 80 year old mother, who I believe was grossly taken advantage of by this company. Under duress, she paid a repair/service cost that FAR exceeds reasonable estimates for comparable work by similar service providers in the area (which I have since researched). The bill Accurate Appliance presented her was NOT itemized, but merely referenced a "flat rate" for parts and labor.

Additionally, when I contacted the owner to discuss the bill, and express my concerns, he kept putting me off, saying he would "have to get back to me." I waited patiently for his calls, but he never seemed to provide any substantive information, and even contradicted his own explanation of terms and cost of parts. During my most recent phone conversation, when I pressed more insistently on the issue and its particulars, he actually hung up on me, and I have not been able to contact him since.

I believe this business is engaging in price gouging. I believe Accurate Appliance is in violation of consumer protection laws in place to prevent abuse of senior citizens. My 80 year old mother felt as though she had no choice when the technician presented her with an $800 bill...the technician offered an unspecified "discount" and charged her $600.

This business has an "F" rating with the Revdex.com, and is not accredited. I am learning firsthand why.Desired Settlement: Ideally, Accurate Appliance should refund $325, which would bring the bill in line with reasonable costs for a refrigerator repair of this nature.
