Review: the repairman was here to repair a frozen water dispenser in the refrigerator door. He unscrewed a small panel at the bottom of the door, looked inside for ten seconds and put the panel back on a total of about a minute, and said that will be $94.15, I can't do anything to help you. It took him longer to make out the bill than do any work.Desired Settlement: How can a customer pay for no work performed.

I had my Whirlpool washing machine fixed today. The tech was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to get the repair done at a reasonable cost. I would highly recommend.

Review: Paid $100 deposit via credit card to repair dishwasher. Decided not to repair and the establishment will only refund us $15.57 and will only send a check. Claims I owe them for a $49.95 trip charge which I do owe and also labor costs which I am disputing. The appliance is not working and no repairs were done. Ace Appliance seems to have many addresses, names and phone numbers. Also goes by the name of [redacted]s Appliance Repair.Desired Settlement: Charge to my credit card of $49.95 and the $100 deposit credited back to my Visa card.

Business

Response:

Ace Appliance Repairs asked and was freely given a 100 deposit which is non refundable for repairs and parts because the cost of trip labor and time of diagnosis and canceling parts and repair orders and restocking fees incurred. Thanks [redacted]

Consumer

Response:

My receipt does not indicate that the deposit is nonrefundable, nor does it deduct the deposit from the estimate of repairs. That would put the repairs over the $300 mark and a new appliance wouldn't be much more. The receipt was handed to me after the credit card was processed. A nonrefundable deposit was not communicated to me verbally or in written form. I do not have a contact or work order with my signature. Less than one half hour after [redacted] left I called Ace and told them that I'll be replacing the appliance. Since [redacted] did not have the part and was going to return at 0900 the next day with the part I question if it was in stock. I do not dispute the $49.95 service call but suddenly other charges, real or imagined, are surfacing without the benefit of a signed contract or any other means of communication.

Business

Response:

Business reiterates that the deposit is non-refundable, there will be no return of monies.

On Thursday, July 3, 2014, our small business' washing machine broke down. We had contacted this repair company because they had advertised "same day service." They were unable to come out that day, the next day was a Federal holiday (understandable), so they came out on Monday, July 7th. They supposedly repaired the machine, we paid for their services and thought we were done. That Friday (July 11th) the machine had the same problem. We called them back--hoping for the advertised "same day service," only to be disappointed again. We were told they would be there on Monday, July 14, 2014. Not only did they not arrive on that day, but they didn't call either! We called them and they said they were very busy and would be there on Tuesday (July 15). They did arrive. Looked at the washer, and said he needed his computer to fix it, but he didn't have it on him. He promised to be back the next day (Wednesday, July 16). He did not return on the 16th, nor did he call. I called him the next morning (Thursday, July 17th) and he said his computer was at another location, he would pick it up and be here in the afternoon. No call. No show. At this point, we could not wait for him to come and fix our washing machine. We are a childcare center, and do laundry daily. Two of our teachers had been taking turns bringing laundry home and back to get it done throughout this whole endeavor! We called another company and they were out the next day. (They even called before they arrived!) When that repair person arrived he told us that what we were told was done was not actually done, and that the problem returned because it was not fixed. So did the other repair man ever show up? Yes, on the same day as the reliable person we called after two weeks of dissatisfaction. Upon his arrival we told him we no longer needed his services. From that point he was unpleasant to deal with. Never were we offered any kind of compensation for our troubles--and we were advised by the new repair person that a new washing machine would be our best option. (We could have avoided a whole lot of hassle--and expenses--if we were told this in the first place.) A very disappointing experience with Ace Appliance Repair, to say the least!
