Victim
Abe disabled a 92 year old ladys AC unit during a freeze up, the ambient temperature was over 100 Deg. Took out a $14,900 loan to replace a unit that needed to defrost due to a dirty air filter. Double the going rate! For a unit that did not need replacement and was verified by another company to be leak free. Deceitful business practices, Goose egg for Integrity and an absolute failure in HONESTY!
The loan was cancelled, now they are trying to fraudulently claim the work was completed and payable. The job was never completed, they left a 92 year old woman whom was just released from the hospital to suffer in extreme heat conditions. They disabled a unit to make a buck!

To Whom It May Concern, Our company Ace Heating & Cooling was contacted through a personal acquaintance to help a customer of his companyThe customer (Mr [redacted] wanted annual maintenance and to install a Nest ThermostatUpon arrival on May 5th to Mr [redacted] home our technician preformed the annual maintenance on both his furnace and air conditionerHe also discovered that there was never any power/communication wires run from the furnace to the current thermostat thus making it almost impossible to put in the requested Nest thermostatAt that time our technician informed Mr [redacted] of the findings and options (Wireless Honeywell IAQ Thermostats or to tear out part of the finished basement to run wires) On May 10th we returned to install the IAQ ThermostatsAt the time of install both AC and thermostat were operating correctlyWe returned two days later to configure Mr [redacted] system to the Honeywell app, which was not working the day of installNovember 18th we received a call from Mr [redacted] saying the house was not heating to the temperature set on the thermostatWhen we arrived it was discovered that the temperature sensors kept loosing connection to the thermostat causing the furnace to stay at a base temperatureThis situation was temporarily alleviated by simply setting the thermostat for a higher temperature causing the thermostats base temperature to be at a comfortable level (70-as desired) We let Mr [redacted] know that we needed to get in touch with Honeywell to troubleshoot the issue and determine why the sensors keep loosing communication and that we would be in touch With the holidays it caused a delay in communication with Honeywell but we eventually got the answer from Honeywell they were unclear as to why it was happening and the solution is to run communication wires from the thermostat to the sensorsOn Mr [redacted] approval Dec 8th our technician tried to run the communication wires but found that studs we placed horizontally in both locations not allowing the wire fish tape to run without tearing out those sections of drywall and drilling through those studsOnce again we were back to square one, no closer to a solution I myself contacted our supply house for any solutions I could possible get for Mr***After multiple discussions with both my representative and Honeywell we were able to find a more advanced thermostat that would solve both the communication issues and still work with the app as promised We were again delayed due to the holidays but on December 30th we installed the new units, tested and retested them, and were able to cover the small holes we made with previous attempts with the new units In conclusion, we have made every attempt to rectify the unfortunate situation and keep Mr [redacted] as a customerIn total we made eight service calls to Mr [redacted] home, all of which we did not charge for, or did he ever go without heat or coolingWe even left the IAQ with Mr [redacted] should he ever do any remodeling and be able to use themIf you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to call me at [redacted] Should you require any invoices, GPS vehicle tracking or call logs, please forward an email address for us to send them to Sincerely, [redacted]

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/08/26) */
WALK-IN:
Called me up and told me I have a leak at the compressorAsked if he wanted me to do a leak check, he said no after heard $priceIf it is the outside coil, he will have to replace unit because coil is not available anymore
Consumer said it cant be coil because he had it replaced alreadyTalked to company that put coil in, had to come back days later and charge it upConsumer told me to replace unit with 4-10A then days later he calls me back says it froze upGo back out and take leak detector and there are no leaks outside by the unit but the detector went off in the basement above the furance where the a-coil isAsked him if he wanted me to do a leak check to pin point the leak, told him it would be $He said noHe calls the landlord out who put the a-coil on originally, that re-welded the a-coil fixing the leak but said by opening up a vent in the basement is the answer to why you wont have to keep adding freon to the unitThat is incorrect(Customer needs to pay accordingly- he now has a balance of $which is the retail price of the unit + installation)

running and did not mention a dollar amount of his budget (currently he did not have heat) and expressed an urgency in having this work done as soon as possible. We spent the good part of two days with 3 men on the job (typically there is usually only two at $85.00 an hour) repairing all visible leaks as per doing the bare minimum on customer's request (there was no additional work performed that was not agreed upon). When the system was turned on, there was unforeseen leaks. Prior to us working there, the system was supposedly winterized however baseboard pipes and fittings cracked and water was released upon his hardwood floors (again prior to us working there), Customer stated "did not appear that much was getting done”, apparently he has no idea what is involved to repair baseboard elements. Upon returning on our third day customer expressed sticking to a budget (did not state as to what amount of budget he was working with) and inquired on the cost at this point, advised him that he was already looking at between $1200.00-$1400.00 (as our work was being billed as time and material). I became upset (did not fly off the handle) because he was disputing our actual hours there and began clearing up my tools that were on the job, he questioned if I was leaving and I stated that we were. He disputed the hours on the job, he stated on the first day we were there 5 hours but in actuality we were there 6 hours, And as far as not getting to the 2nd and 3rd floor, we did and repaired all visible leaks, apparently he was not paying attention as closely as he stated ([redacted] was there during all of our time on the job). I don't believe we would be in business for over 65 years treating customers the way this individual is conjuring things up. Therefore I would not consider my business as shady. I believe this individual should be more appreciative of good honest workmanship, instead of trying to get something for nothing. I promptly billed him out on the materials (fittings that were required to achieve the bare minimum to obtain heat) and time on the job. [redacted] contacted the office to discuss a reduction in his billing, it was explained that he was only billed for materials and time on the job and there was no reducing the bill, he stated that he was not going to pay this bill and the secretary responded then it will be turned over for collections, he stated to turn him over. We waited until after his due date, then sent him a 5-day letter, and at that point he came into the office to again discuss a reduction and was informed there was none and that his account was turned over to our collector. At which point we were contacted by your office.
