Linda *** called on 09-29-at 4:P.Mand told the secretary that her furnace was not working properly and needed to have it fixed, an appointment was set up for 10-11-in the AMbetween A.Mand noon(this was the first available date that her schedule and ours allowed) we
do not give exact times as a service call can take min or it can take hours and we do multiple service calls each dayThe service technician arrived at 11:A.M. When he arrived he removed the top door of the furnace and attempted to start furnace with the thermostat, which is standard procedure, the screen flashed on the thermostat and went blank for a short time, but the furnace did not startTechnician then replaced the two AA batteries in the thermostat, then using the thermostat to start the furnace, the furnace then started and operated within parametersThe home *** stated that she didn't know that it took batteries.Home *** was shown how to replace batteries, again and the service bill was given for $with tax.The offer of $to $for a service call, plus miles from our shop would not even cover the cost of fuel and the service technicians wages, and unfortunately we no longer live in the 1950's. We bill $for a service call within miles of town and $outside of that areaThe home *** lives plus miles from town and was billed appropriatelyWe are the lowest in our area for service call costOther heating company's start at $in town and go up to over $and a quick search on Google reveals that the national average is $for a no heat service call. Our receptionist is not a service technician and does not diagnose furnace problems over the phone. The home *** never asked to have a clean-n-tune done on her furnace, if she had the technician would have preformed the work and the bill would have been $plus tax.The furnace was installed on 05-04-under a low income state program that has strict rules and at the time of install she was shown the operation of the furnace and the thermostat including how to replace the batteries and that they should be replaced every year the same time as the smoke detector batteriesThe program even has a independent inspector that inspects each job, days after install is completed, for quality, (and to inspect that the thermostat instruction manual was left on top of the thermostat as required by the program). We will not offer any billing adjustment, and the home *** is free to call any number of other heating contractors in the area for any future service work.We now consider this matter closedThank you Thomas, *** Ace Heating & Refrigeration

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11766669, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. In response to Ace Heating and Refrigeration, the first appointment I made was cancelled by the companySecond appointment I was told time would be !0:00, as in my first complaintWhen they were a no-show, the receptionist stated she had the wrong dateGranted she's NOT a technicianBut wouldn't a suggestion of "did you check your batteries" just be a cost-efficient suggestion? When the tech replaced the batteries I did say "well, as long as you're here, check out my furnace", which is stated in my first complaintI didn't know I had to use the term "clean and tune" as the tech suggests in his responseI also asked him when he handed me the bill "did you check out my furnace?" and his response was "it's clean", so why did I still have a dirty filter? (Extra filters were right next to the furnace.) What did he check? I would have gladly paid $knowing my furnace is ready for the seasonNow that he mentions he didn't check it out, I could potentially have a problem this seasonAnd he's right, if I do, I won't be calling Ace Heating & Refrigeration for serviceHe mentions the low income program in his last paragraphNone of what he states occurredThe state people only check on the work done, their manual in no way suggests operation of equipmentIt is a "weatherization guide book" that only explains what the program didAgain, I must state, they installed the furnaceWouldn't any reputable company have suggested "did you check the batteries"
Regards,
Linda ***
