I contacted the owner of this business '***' for an estimate to move my belongings to their storage facility while my home was repaired after a flood he gave me two estimates One was the possible low amount and the other was the possible high amount He guaranteed 'verbally' that in NO case would the charges exceed the high amount of $ When all my belongings were on their truck they asked for just over $ *** changed his story and now says the 'not to exceed' amount was just an estimate I see this as a classic bait and switch I had other estimates much lower than $and would have gone with another company

I am rejecting this response because:
If Mr*** has been giving estimates for years he should have been able to give a more accurate one than the one he gave to meHis statement that he has never given a 'not to exceed' is falseThat is exactly what he said to meI had other estimates for much lower than $and would have accepted one of them if he had not told me his price would not exceed $ Please note that the $was the high estimate! The low estimate was $ That's a big difference from $ Mr*** assured me that because my house was small, only two bedrooms, and most of my belongings had already been boxed by the flood mitigation crew ( all of my China, Crystal, kitchen contents, bathroom contents, living room, and bar contents ) he did not need to come out and physically look at the houseIn fact, very few household items were left UnboxedHe spent a great deal of time with me on the phone asking me exactly how many large pieces of furniture were involvedSuch as how many beds, armoires or chest of drawers I let him know that Two of my large pieces of furniture were antiques because I wanted to make sure his movers were qualified to handle themHe was courteous, professional, and knowledgeableI had no reason to believe that he was not honest I was not given the price for moving until everything I own was loaded onto their truck They gave me a choice of paying an extra 3% if I used a credit card or writing a check so I wrote them a check because they were in possession of all my belongings This move was necessitated by a recent flood which requires my entire house to be renovated My time is limited as a result of this This is not a frivolous complaintI would not be taking the time to do this if I wasn't so angry over being duped

To start off with we never give a not to exceed over the phone. We can only estimate the time based on the info given. A price was given on 6 hours packing there ended up being 7.5 hours. A price was given for 6 hours moving and a price was given for 8 hours moving all based on per hour again based...

on the information given. The moving took 11.25 hours. [redacted] the owner has been doing estimates for 30 years and would never give a not to exceed site unseen.   [redacted] was aware of the price at the end of the 1st day of packing and the second day as well. We only charged for services rendered. Thank You
