I would be more than happy to replace these shears, or to send her a check if that is more convenient. If you could provide an address we can mail her a check for $40 or we can send a pair of the following shears:[redacted] Please let us know...

how to proceed and we will send the check or shears out immediately. Best Regards,** [redacted]President / OwnerAcme Saw & Supply, Inc

I keep having trouble responding within the Revdex.com system. Response to the complaint from Helen Brooks: It is our sincerest belief that Ms [redacted] was given the correct lawnmower.  We can certainly understand the frustration if the customer believes that this is incorrect. However, we do...

not think it is appropriate to replace her mower with a brand new one. All of the equipment for repair in the shop is tagged and those tags are never removed. Since only a starter repair was requested, we did not address the loose blade or the condition of the engine. These situations are extremely frustrating for both us and the customer, but if more information is not provided to us (such as the model # or serial # of Ms [redacted] lawnmower), we have a tough time coming to a resolution that is fair to all involved. If we did make a mistake, we would have seen the mix up, as someone else would have received [redacted] mower. She describes the mower as being too old for her to have retained records of purchase or an owner’s manual. This would be consistent with the condition of the mower that is in her possession currently. If the only acceptable resolution to the customer is to replace the mower with a brand new one, I do not feel that action is justified.  [redacted]President / OwnerAcme Saw & Supply, IncStockton, Folsom, Lodiwww.acmesaw.netwww.acmeoutdoorpower.com

Revdex.com:
I would like for this matter to be closed , yes the mower is in my possession but it is of no use to anyone, and the only reason I did not return I was afraid they would get rid of it and I would not have proof: I am aware they do notneed my business, so it does not matter what the out come is.they said they would replace the mower with a new one but feel this is not  justified.I thank you for your time and help. It will all  work out in the end.I am not happy, but tired and disappointed thank you again:[redacted]

Review: In May I took a pair of garden shears in that were unassembled and in need of sharpening. They gave me a claim check [redacted]) and off I went. I heard nothing for a couple weeks so I called to check. I was told that they were sent to their Stockton store and hadn't come back yet. Another couple weeks passed and I still heard nothing. I called to check again and I was asked to describe them because they lost the tag and couldn't find them anywhere. So I did. Another week went by and I had to call AGAIN. [redacted]old me they lost the shears. Well, what are you going to do about it, [redacted]? He told me to go to a particular supplier's website, pick out a pair that was similar to mine. That was two weeks ago. It's June, now, and no one's called me back. I'll call again Monday to see if they're still going to replace my shears.Desired Settlement: Replace the shears that you lost. I gave you the product comparison as you requested so why no contact?

Review: I was charged 30$ for a repair estimate that was neither clear, timely nor accurate.

I took my mower in to be mended with the specific request of, "I just want it to run." I was told it would be 2-3 weeks for an estimate which is standard for lawnmower places in the spring. 2.5 weeks later I get a call informing me that to repair it would be over 300$ for a mower that would cost 350$ new. I was also told the reason for the high cost was all the extra "safety" parts that would have to be ordered in order for the mower to be "legal" and not a liability when it leaves their shop. I said I'd be by to pick it up.

I go to the Lodi store where I left it and was told there was a 30$ estimate fee. I bit my tongue and said I would pay but the store should tell their customers that when they look over the mower when it was brought in and can see that just the parts needed to leave their store "legal" would be over 100$ - it should be pointed out. This is not even to mention the fact that the 30$ flat estimate fee was explained away as, "most people don't need it" after it was requested from me to be able to take my mower.

I got my mower and proceeded to load it into my truck when I noticed that grass and dirt was still in all of the screws and mounts for the shell. I returned to the store and requested a refund as the "estimate" obviously was someone checking the spark and deducing that it would be 305$. When questioned over the nature of the estimate I was told to, "open my eyes" and look at the parts listed on the receipt as well as, "it's cost this much just for the time arguing with you." I was then told, "NO, I'm NOT giving you back your money" and "I'm done here."

I then turned to leave stating, "maybe you should care more about customer service then your [redacted]' liability."

I REALLY wanted to help out a local business. I didn't want to be wasteful and get a new mower when an existing one could work. I went out of my way to help out a local business and they went out of their way to screw me over. Desired Settlement: To explain to their customers what the costs will be for an estimate.

Business' Initial Response

Here is our response to this complaint.

We at Acme Saw try to provide the best customer service to our customers. We have been in business for over 60 years and have a large customer base of both homeowners and commercial businesses alike. It is unfortunate that there are occasions when our counter personnel and the customer are not on the same page. It is posted in our shop that estimates run $30. We did respond with an estimate in the time frame promised (2-3 weeks). Though Mr [redacted] saw dirt and grass on his mower, we have a detailed, line-item estimate that proves we spent time in providing an accurate repair cost. We always strive to get estimates and repair work out as timely as possible. In cases such as Mr [redacted]'s, where there are concerns about the ability for the customer to use the product safely, we must protect ourselves and our customers. We cannot send out a machine that we deem is unfit for proper use, less we expose ourselves to litigation from customers or suspension of our dealership status from our vendors. We stand by our estimate procedure, but we have addressed with our counter personnel the importance of relaying the minimum charge of all work requiring an estimate. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve customers like Mr [redacted], as all of our customers are local people and professionals. We are upset that his experience was not satisfactory, and will use it to improve our customer service moving forward.

Review: 5 months ago I took my lawn mower to this business when they were located on Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento. They charged me $110 to replace the carbourator and filters. After only 5 months (over the winter when I don't use the mower) I took it out to mow in mid-March. The mower kept cutting out and sputtering like it did when I took it in. I drove to Folsom to see if they could help me and they ([redacted]) were rude and told me to get out. I then took the mower to another shop and they told me that the carb. was REBUILT not new!! Now I have to pay again to have my mower repaired. I got the distinct feeling that I got this treatment because I am African American.Desired Settlement: New carb is only $70 and I was charged $110. Refund would be nice.

Response:

In response to Mr. [redacted] complaint I spoke with the employees at the Folsom location. The manager there and the employees do not recall ever telling any customer to get out. The manager stated that there has not been such an incident during the last five years he has worked there. Mr. [redacted] stated that “they ([redacted])”were rude. We do not have any employee at any location named [redacted].

As far as the mower not working properly after 5 months of sitting idle, this is a typical scenario when the gas is not properly drained out during non-use. Gas deteriorates and causes problems with the fuel system. I cannot be certain this was the case but the probability is high.

Carburetors are usually changed out new and, in some cases, rebuilt depending on cost and condition. As several months had passed since the replacement and a third un-named party looked at it I cannot respond with any conclusive certainty.

As far as Mr. [redacted]’s feeling that his treatment was race related I feel confident that was not the case. We are a diverse organization with employees of many ethnic backgrounds. We do not tolerate any such behavior within our organizaton or with our customers.
