I had a problem with my Vermont Castings direct vent gas stove Which I described to Mike T*** one of the owners He told me how to troubleshoot the problem It was a defective on/off switch which he told me how to remove and replace He didn't have the proper switch in stock, but told me I could probably find one at Home Depot which I did for $ This was great because the switch he would get would be about $ I removed the defective switch and the stove works perfectly It's nice to find an honest business I would use them for any future purchase in the fireplace or gas stove area and heartily recommend Acme Stove of Rockville Md

Review: On March 24, 2014, ** the Service Technician from ACME Stove Co. came to my home to complete a diagnostic service on my fireplace. Prior to my scheduling the service call, the pilot would not light on the fireplace for 2 yrs. The Tech. came in removed the side panel and began cleaning the clogged logs. The Tech then began to check for other issues but none were found. Ninety seconds after the Tech turned on the gas switch on high; the front glass-pane shattered. As I watched, he immediately turned off the gas and once it was cool enough he taped up pane up to keep it from crumbling. He told me once he returned to the office he would file a report and the pane would be ordered. The Tech. began to inform me that the shattered glass was not ACME’s error, because he did not remove that particular pane. He suggested the shattering may have come from overheating. I did not agree with what I was hearing and told him that I would be contacting the Manager. I phone immediately after the Tech left and spoke to another person (didn’t get the name). I provided him with the information and he told me someone would be in contact with me. I waited one month after the incident (April 21, 2014) and phoned the company again, provided my invoice number and the person said he would pull up the file and call me back that very same afternoon. To this day I have not received a call from ACME Stove Co. I’m very frustrated and disappointed with how Acme Stove Co. has handled this situation. Not only did I pay $175.00 to have a service call that was not satisfactory but I’m also left with a broken glass-pane that should be replaced by ACME Stove CoDesired Settlement: The desired outcome I wish to have is ACME Stove Company to timely replace my glass-pane without any additional charges to me. I would also like to have an apology from ACME Stove Company Management for the way this situation was handled.

Review: We purchased a fireplace insert in September. We followed-up with the company a couple of times inquiring about the arrival date of the unit. We were informed we would be called once the unit arrived. Without receiving a call and the day prior to the planned install date established several weeks earlier, the company was contacted again and informed us the unit arrived.Upon receiving the unit several chips in the enamel were noted. Pictures were taken and sent to the company. Due to lack of follow-up, the manufacturer was contacted. Following contact with the manufacturer, Acme contacted us about replacing damaged parts. We completed a parts list as requested and sent as an email reply to Acme. In the email reply, we requested information about an installation date for the new parts. More than 2 weeks later we have yet to receive a reply.Desired Settlement: Since, this unit was paid in full on day of purchase in September, we are requesting replacement of damaged parts without further cost or delay.

Review: On Octber 2, I ordered a fireplace screen door from "[redacted]" at the Acme Co, Fairfax store based on measurements taken by their recommended/preferred contractor ([redacted] from [redacted]). The people from [redacted] measured the opening for the fireplace door. I took the measurements and gave them to [redacted] to order the door. When door was delivered and [redacted] tried to install it he found out that the door was not the right size. When I reviewed the bill to verify the size of the door, I noted that although the door was going to be installed by their recommended contractor, they charged for installing such door. When the door was picked up from the store by the subcontractor, it was not the right size. Did not provide solution other than refund the money. I still need a door for my fireplace to keep cold air out of the house and now he tells me that due to the fact that we are in the holiday season it will take a month and a half to get a new one! Due to Acme's incometence I am forced to start looking again for a fireplacew door in the middle of the winter.Desired Settlement: I would like Acme to try to find a solution other than "We are refunding your money" and an apology for their incompetence. Additionally, I am bothered by the fact that they charged me for installing the door when they knew that I had contracted their recommended contractor to do the install. They were actually billing me for a service that they were not going to perform. This is illegal. I would like them to clarify their policy on this matter.
