I booked an economy car on kayak.com from ACO Rent a Car for $It was advertised as all fees included, and I even contacted them beforehand to ask them of their policies and to ensure they accepted my insuranceUpon being dropped off at their business, several miles from the airport, only then did they inform me of bogus fees that escalated the cost to $550! Since I wasn't near any other car rental, I essentially had no choice but to rent from themThat said, it was a complete scam via advertising and entrapment in the sense that I really had no choice but to rent from themAvoid this business at all costs

The full size car we rented for our family of four (with a car seat) was no where to be found at Miami International Airport when we picked up our carIn fact, there were only four cars in the lot, economy size and a Ford Mustang (door) which is what they gave usWe barely got the luggage inThere were no options for us
Also, the day before we arrived, I called to verify some information on their contracts/website/informational forms (which by the way contradict each other) to make sure we were ok with our insurance coverage with GEICOAfter speaking with the disinterested agent on the phone, she told me we were fineNot so at the rental deskAgain, we had no option but to buy their insurance
ACO advertises low rates, but then leads customers into a web of lies leading them to pay as much or more as you would have paid for a national brand rental companyACO is terrible and I'm still waiting from a responseNo one will give me a direct contact # or email so that I can get this resolvedI'd like a refund of the insurance we HAD to buy, but I can see from other comments that most likely will not happen

I rented a car on kayak and thought I chose a avis car. Went to get car 3 hours later after my flight from chicago to orlando and was surprised that it was aco not avis. My 29 year old son and I BOOKED the car together on his phone. Avis agent helped us figure out it was aco. Nice girl. Went to aco to get car and found out they wouldn't rent us a car because we did not have a copy of our insurance contract with us plus they charge extra if your use your own insurance. There insurance is very expensive. They have hidden charges. You need to have your lawyer read your contract before your book. Also it is a mystery how we clicked avis and ended up with aco. The agent said I would not be charged for the car since we refused it. Wait and see if I have to dispute this charge on my credit card. I did not prepay. They also charge a $25.00 cancel fee on prepaid. Went back to airport and got a dollar car with no problem at all. (avis was closed). We rent cars every month. Never had this problem with Dollar, avis, budget, thrifty, alamo I usually look for prices on Kayak and then call these companies direct to negotiate a fee. This is the safest way to not get scammed. Also I take pictures of damage on the cars and don't take a car that is too damaged. I keep my contract 6 months.

I was going to rent a vehicle for 8 days until I arrived at the ACO rental car company counter and was told they didn't accept Metlife Insurance. Knowing that I would be fully insured had I rented their car, I was told that it was against their policy to rent to people who aren't insured by companies on their list. I had never heard of such a rule and tried to assure the man behind the counter that I and his vehicle would be fully insured if I rented his vehicle. Metlife is amongst the largest global insurance companies that transfers benefit to those renting vehicles in the US...I even offered to pull up my insurance policy and show him... He refused and stated that I would have to accept their insurance at $23-$25 dollars per day and that was my only options... No emotion ... No remorse, as I sat there with my family of three( a five year old) and my sister in laws' family of three and all our luggage trying to figure out what to do.... It was late and other rental car companies in the area had already closed. Therefore, the guy charged both me and my sister in law $25 to cancel and we paid $60 for a cab to our hotel. I felt duped and I felt their booking site should be more forthcoming when you decline their insurance... Like if you decline, there should be a pop up that says," if u decline our insurance, you must possess insurance from the following companies to rent with us." I also believe their policy is "murky," because it goes on to say that a $600 hold will be placed on your credit card if you decline their insurance, which I assumed to be a collateral type option if you decline their insurance, or didn't possess insurance included on their list of accepted companies. I really want that $25 dollars back because of principal... Or $50 for my sister in law... Morally, I feel they should have shuttled us to the hotel. That was certainly not the way I wanted to start vacation! We essentially paid $110 dollars for absolutely no service. It was clear the man behind the counter did not care about our predicament, nor my very tired family.Thank you for reading. FYI: The shuttle driver from the airport to ACO mentioned that he witnesses similar incidents a half dozen times per day. I feel this is poor business tactics and should be addressed. Please do the right thing and refund our money for the huge inconvenience and expense you created for my family members and I. Thanks again.
