I appreciate having the opportunity to respond to a complain received avout our businessThe complaint that was filed was in regard to a charge on a customer's bank card that they believed was a double or overcharge initiated by our companyThe amount of the purchase was
$and the customer saw a charge of $on their bank statement
What the customer is seeing is a "hold" amount initiated by their financial institution, not something that is initiated by our clerks or companyThis amount is determined by the acrd holders bankThe fixed hold amount is placed on the account and once the sale is finalized the "hold" amount is removedSometimes the hold is removed right away and sometimes it can take a day or twoBut again the initiation and subsequent removal of this hold is the customers financial institutions responsibility
Information to this affect is displayed on all of our pumps and is worded as follows "When using a debit card, your financial institution may place a hold on your account that may exceed the purchase amount"Shell is not responsible for placing or removing these holds."
On occasion customers will not notice the sign and if they see a charge on their statement will contact our location thinking it is an overchargeOur policy is that we apologize for the confusion but direct them to contact their bank as there is nothing that can be done on our part
I am attaching an image of the decals that are placed on our pumps relating to the financial institution "holds"I hope that this explains the situation to the customers satisfaction

$32 and the customer saw a charge of $95 on their bank statement.
What the customer is seeing is a "hold" amount initiated by their financial institution, not something that is initiated by our clerks or company. This amount is determined by the acrd holders bank. The fixed hold amount is placed on the account and once the sale is finalized the "hold" amount is removed. Sometimes the hold is removed right away and sometimes it can take a day or two. But again the initiation and subsequent removal of this hold is the customers financial institutions responsibility.
