Dear Revdex.com,

We recently had a deck built by ACS Log Build *** Owner ***. Also helped out by his son ***.
The whole project was a nightmare from the beginning. Broken promises, zero accountability, lack of communication, poor workmanship and follow thru.
The deck was started by *** and *** sometime in the beginning of May. What was supposed to be a week at the longest turned into a month long debacle. Due to ***’s broken promises, turtle slow progress, and lack of communication we fired him. At that time he demanded full payment for a deck that was only a ¼ of the way done. We obviously refused. He then called my wife who is a surgery nurse at *** and told her “I know where you work, I will just come down there and find you.” At that point, my wife told him to never set foot on our property again. At that point *** reluctantly took over and he and his team very poorly finished the job. We then paid *** the remainder of the balance. We had paid for materials up front which is customary. *** told us to contact him if we ever noticed anything after the completion that needed to be fixed.

Here are the list of the defects:

1. All of the rails especially on the stairs are wobbly.
2. 6 LED post lights with no screws or attachments.
3. 7 spindles that were not installed correctly and need replaced.
4. Wide gaps in all of the steps.
5. At least 4 boards on the floor are bowed and sticking up.
6. Wide and uneven gaps in all steps.
7. Wide gaps between all top boards on rails.
8. Main post at bottom of stairs rotting.

I personally started to contact *** about the repairs starting on June 6th. 1 or 2 days after the “completion” of the job to correct defects. I contacted him a minimum of 6 times in June and July. My wife *** has contacted him a minimum of 8 times in July and August. On several occasions he has a set a date and time to come out and repair the deck. Needless to say, he has never showed and now he has told us “to leave him alone.” To get their attention because nothing else was working, I posted a 1-star review on ACS Log Build’s web-site explaining our experience with both *** and ***. Then yesterday took to *** share our experience. This finally got their attention. *** called me and told me “I am *** with the wrong guy,” *** and insisted that I take down all negative reviews. I told him absolutely not until the issues were fixed. He finally calmed down and told me to send a detailed list of all the defects and that he and his crew would be out to fix it today Monday August 31 at 8 am. It rained in the morning but at 10:10 am I texted him and told him the rain had stopped and asked when he and the crew were coming. No response. I then called him at 10:59 am to ask when they would be here. He went on to tell me that he has no intention of coming back to fix anything. He said all of the defects were caused by us and that he had talked to his attorney and we are harassing him. I told him he was breaking his word. He then told me that both my wife and myself ha something wrong with us and that we are mentally ill. I said “you know what *** I’m not going to argue with you anymore and to have a nice day.”
My wife and I both have numerous text messages from *** and then *** accepting responsibility and then to never show up. This is why I am contacting The Revdex.com. At minimum, we want our deck fixed and then a genuine apology would be nice as well. Any help we can get from Revdex.com would be much appreciated. One last note, ACS LOG BUILD never secured a building permit in Olathe, KS thus the deck cannot be inspected to see if it meets code. In my opinion, probably done intentionally.
