Review: The glove compartment door in my car broke. The dealer could not replace it and suggested I find one at a junkyard & they would install it for me. I spent 3 hours on the phone on 11 June 2014 calling salvage yards. I found ONE salvage yard that had one. It was Action Auto Dismantlers. The man I spoke with (I didn't get his name)said it would cost $50 & gave me the directions to get there & hours they were open. I asked the color and the man said I would have to come look at it but he thought most of them were gray. I called the dealer & told him I found one. He said to be sure it wasn't brittle or cracked & to check the hinge. On 13 June I drove all the way from east county to Action Auto Dismantlers (almost 20 mi each way)& talked with a young man regarding the glove box. The man I spoke with on the phone sounded like an older man. The young man asked if I wanted to go look for it. I said no, I'm disabled and can't walk far. He sent someone to look for it. When I could not stand any longer I told the older man who had come into the shop that I would be in my car--I had to sit down. After quite a long wait, the young man came to my car & said they didn't have one. A glove box is an item that they wouldn't keep on hand but would have to go elsewhere to look for one. Guess that explains why no one else had one! Why was I, a disabled, elderly woman told they had one & made to drive all that way - using gas I can't afford to spare - all for nothing? Why didn't they say they didn't have one - like all the other salvage yards did?? WHY DELIBERATLY LIE TO ME & CAUSE ME STRESS PLUS THE COST OF GAS & LOSS OF MY TIME TO GO THERE.Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY GAS (OVER 2 GAL - I GET 16 MPG).
