Mr*** called us broken down, unable to start his Honda Odysey because it would not crank when turning the key It was a Friday before Labor day and we were extremely busy, but since he claimed he was from Seattle and was homeless living in his Van, we had him tow it into the shop to see
what we could do When he arrived, he turned out to have a dog with him so we brought them both into our waiting area, set up a work space for him and his computer, hooked him up to the internet, fed and watered his dog, and began to diagnose the problem In addition to the diagnosis, we performed a free general check up of the vehicles main safety items since he was travelling to help insure he not have any other problems on his trip Our lead technician discovered the starter had proper power, ground, and signal to the solenoid but was defective and not turning over the engine to startWe provided Mr*** with a price quote in advance which he approved He also had us perform a premium lube, oil, and filter service at the same time We informed Mr*** that his brakes were down to millimeter remaining and the rotors were thin enough that replacement was likely going to be needed, but he declined to repair them We then installed a premium *** starter which comes with a LIFETIME nationwide parts warranty, and a year 24k mile nationwide warranty on labor Mr*** informed us when it was time to pay his bill he was a veteran so we also extended him a discount Mr*** signed off on the repair order acknowledging his pre-approval of and receipt of all repairs and his vehicle started flawlessly and he drove to Seattle The untruths in Mr*** story are as follows - First the fact he could not start his vehicle and needed to tow it to the shop was huge "evidence" he needed a starter Second, Mr*** falsely states he discovered "fraud" and "unethical practices" In actuality, Mr*** having said absolutely nothing negative to any of us in our presence about our practices or our repair emailed me a few days later and threatened to smear my reputation all over the internet and file a complaint with the Revdex.com if I didn't send him $ That is why I didn't respond to his email because it was an extortion letter and an example of Mr*** own lack of character and unethical practices In addition, Mr*** is also falsely stating we claimed our shop supplies/environmental charge are required by the state of Oregon, we never told him that We told him the small charge is added to cover miscellaneous shop supplies such as uniforms, cleaning supplies, shop towels, gloves, ear plugs, etc and also the cost of recycling all forms of hazardous waste Lastly, we did not profit from a core exchange credit, because we did not charge him for one, our price for a starter installed is almost $cheaper than the Honda dealer, our labor warranty is double the dealers and our part warranty is lifetime while the dealer is one year only This was determined by calling the dealer and getting an actual quote for the same repair In conclusion, ethics have to work both ways We provide a quote in advance and in good faith giving the customer the opportunity to approve every single repair and charge PRIOR to performing any work We trust the customer to be honest when they approve the work and we do EXACTLY what we said we do for EXACTLY what we said we would charge or in some cases even less (veterans discount) We also put our warranty in writing on every repair order and we honor it without exception I think it is extremely unethical of Mr*** to approve our repair order and then attempt to harm my online reputation to extort money from me afterwards Thankfully, this is the first time in years anyone had attempted to do this and hopefully it will be the last I do know there is a lot of truth to the age old adage "You reap what you sow", never the less I wish Mr*** the best and hope his circumstances improve so he doesn't feel he has to generate income in this way

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: Most statements are false:1) The business did not bring me and my dog in the waiting area, we entered on our ownNot relevant to fraud. 2) The business did not set up a word space for me and my computer, I set it up myself and it was makeshiftNot relevant to fraud. 3) Some obese employee illegally fed my service dog junk food without my permissionI already had water for the dog.4) I did not ask for my vehicle to be checked for safety items; this contradicts their statement they were "extremely busy"This was only a scam to try and make more money by finding any other things they can make money from and fix that day since they had extra time to do so (eg, replace brake pads that were not of urgent need). 5) There is no evidence of a "premium" lube, but rather they could have used cheap oil.6) I declined the brake job because it was a total rip off! They wanted about $just to resurface rotors and replace brake padsI went to *** and paid $for the same work.7) I did not receive any paperwork outlying the two year warranty on labor which is 50% less than the warranty Honda offers. 8) I did not drive to SeattleI never said I was driving to Seattle. 9) A vehicle that does not start is not evidence it needs a starterThis is an insanely incompetent statement.10) It is true an employee who took my order told me the environmental fee was required by the State of Oregon which was an illegal statement / lieI was not told those details they now claimIf they have any video and/or audio surveillance, this will be proven. 11) They did get money for the core exchange and overcharged for the part to the extent of unreasonable and uncustomary.12) All this nonsense about ethics reversal and religion is a desperate attempt to distract from truthsThere was no extortion attempt, but rather a disclosure that unless they reverse their fraud charges, I will tell the world to help prevent others from being victims. 11) I am not generating income, I am recovering lost funds stolen from fraudulent activities

Hi Alexis,Largely due to the influence of the Revdex.com, online reviews, etc., the business contacted me to do whatever it took to resolve the issue (is resolved), thanks,*** ***

I regret Mr. [redacted] has reported this as a problem because I had no idea a problem even existed.  He did indeed bring us his truck with a turbo problem and a cold start issue.  We correctly identified a bad turbo as supported by Autozone and we also correctly identified one faulty fuel...

injector because it failed a power balance test on that cylinder.  We could not duplicate a cold start problem as he described, but it is common for old and failing injectors to have their spool valves stick for the first few start up attempts when cold.  Because one fuel injector was already defective and all of them had very high miles on them, we recommended since we would have all the injectors accessible while doing one, we should replace them all.  Mr. [redacted] agreed and we performed the needed repairs.  Afterwards, the vehicle ran fantastic, the turbo code was gone, and all the injectors passed the power balance test.  For the brief time after the repairs, where we could start the vehicle when it was somewhat cold, it also started every time.  Mr. [redacted] did report back to us that the vehicle still had a problem with cold start, so we made sure the FICM was flashed with the most current updated software.  Mr. [redacted] reported back to us that this had not affected the problem either.  We told Mr. [redacted] we needed to have the vehicle overnight in order to duplicate the problem so as to be able to diagnose it but he said he couldn't do it.  The only time we've been able to look at the vehicle for this problem, it has been driven without an overnight sit so the problem never presented itself.  The last thing we heard from Mr. [redacted] was that he had determined both his batteries were needing replaced.  We told him possibly the low available voltage in the batteries during a cold morning startup may have caused the FICM to not function correctly and to let us know if the battery change made a difference.  It comes as a shock that this Revdex.com complaint was the next thing we heard.  We were still in the process of determining the problem, and were committed to resolving the issue.  We thought we were in active communication with Mr. [redacted], and were waiting to hear back from him so as to go on to what ever step was necessary or to hear the batteries solved the problem.  We have been respecting Mr. [redacted]'s reluctance to let us have the vehicle overnight, even several nights if necessary to be able to duplicate and diagnose the problem, but this obviously makes diagnosis nearly impossible.  Up to now, all we could do was fix the known problems that were present with his vehicle and hope they were also the cause of the cold start and die issue.  We are still committed and totally qualified and able to diagnose and fix this problem, but we need to have access to the vehicle overnight and we need continued cooperation from Mr. [redacted] to make this possible.  We have not charged him for any additional diagnostics or the FICM reflash nor were we asking for additional moneys for further diagnostics.  Taking the vehicle to a different and possibly less qualified diesel mechanic will only cost Mr. [redacted] a large sum of money he doesn't need to spend.  I respectfully recommend he re-establish healthy communication with us and let us have the vehicle overnight until we can establish the cause of the problem.  A loaner/rental car can be provided if that would help at no cost.  After diagnosing and repairing the first two issues, we are available, eager, and committed to getting this problem diagnosed and fixed as well.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I was never told they could not duplicate the cold start issue I am having like I said they said said replacing the injectors wohld fix my cold start issue but as they could not duplicate the issue they would not have known that is was still having a issue if craig is willing to accept my new offer I will change my respone to accept my new proposal is this I would like action automotive to send a tow truck to my place and pick up my truck today as it has not been started yet today and diganose my cold start issue, or I would like action automotive to pay for the diganosis fee for me to take it to another mechanic and I will have it towed there my selfSincerely,
[redacted]

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Sincerely, [redacted]

I accept the proposed solution.  I have [redacted] truck at the shop and the repairs are almost completed.
