Action Contents Reviews (%countItem)

Action Movers was hired to collect household goods in *** and put them in storage for five months. They were then asked to deliver the contents to a residence in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. When they made delivery, they used a smaller truck than was used for the pickup in ***. They managed to lose many boxes of personal goods as well as a headboard and metal bed frame and carpets.
After many emails and phone calls over October/November they finally found three boxes of personal goods, and after two weeks of further delay delivered them to our residence. Unfortunately there were still many boxes of items missing, including the following items:
Two small speakers for my phone
Some jewelry; rings, bracelets etc (all sterling/925) 5 rings 4 bracelets
Hair dryer
Hair straightener
Makeup
Hair products
Winter clothing at very least two large boxes
Boots, flat dress shoes, black flats
Towels
Queen size electric blanket in beige
Kitchen stuff; glasses, coffee/tea mugs, bowls in blue
Kettle
Duvet with blue cover
Curtains in blue, brown and red
Decorations: vases, Knick knacks, candles, candle holders, baskets, wooden decor, glass decor
Small lamp
Small teal lanterns
Teal candle holders
Crystal collection (stones and crystals of various types and colours
Knife collection! (Swing blades of variety) at least 6 knives
Area rugs of different sizes and colours (5)(Black and white, grey)
Small Urn with my Cat's ashes
Aromatherapy oils
Religious stuff - ex; eagle feather, books,
Queen size metal bed frame
Winter clothes at least 2 boxes
Headboard (maple/oak size double)
Glass rectangular tray
Two white platters rectangular
Large salad Bowls (decorative)
Books

Being without winter clothing, kitchen items, makeup etc. for an entire month has put the owner in considerable difficulty.
It is a wonder to me how the Revdex.com can stand behind a company that has so many negative complaints posted on other legitimate sites.

Initial Business Response /(1000, 7, 2018/01/19) */
Dear ***,

We appreciate your complaint and acknowledge it. When we did your original move, there was no inventory list created and your paperwork was signed off as you understood our terms and agreements. We provided you a 20ft box moving truck which was not completely full and your items were loaded into 2 1/2 lockers. Each locker is 7x8 if you filled 2.5 lockers - that is the equivalent to a 10x15 locker. Our moving truck that was loaded for your shipment to Nanaimo was 9x16 LOADED FULL to the brim. We sent a smaller truck to save you on Ferry costs. The size difference was only 2-3ft from the original truck. We did admit to you that a couple boxes were left in the .5 locker were missed, and on our own costs brought them to you a couple weeks later. There is no way based on the list you provided that these additional items are still in our warehouse. Items like a headboard, planters, rectangle table are definitely noticeable items, as it looks like many of the other items were in boxes. if I had to estimate, it would still show that you have 10+/- boxes also still missing.
Without having an inventory list, it is hard to track down items that never made it to our warehouse to begin with. We do appreciate your concern and would like to offer you $300.00 to help replace these items. please let us know if you would like this cheque mailed to your home or your daughters on the island.
thank you

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /(3000, 9, 2018/02/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Action Movers

Thank you for your response to our complaint and offer of $300 compensation.

There is no sense analyzing the size of trucks, or the skill of the packers. They are two variables that are difficult or impossible to measure.

The issue is more about the storage and security of the furniture and goods that were held in Action's care for five months. All of our goods and furniture left on an Action Mover's truck, so it is expected that all of those items ended up in your warehouse.

It is clear from your own records that our goods were moved from one area of the warehouse to another or possibly from one building to another for all I know. What protection was provided for our goods, how long were they open on the warehouse floor, and how many people had access during that move? Clearly Action Movers created an opportunity for items to be misplaced, or even stolen during that time.

We remain certain that there are as many as five boxes of goods still missing and a headboard and metal bed frame. If you review the list of goods, most are small items that would take less space than your estimate of 10 boxes. Please note that the planters and rectangle table you mention are not part of the list we sent you through the Revdex.com.

Action Movers has admitted that "a couple of boxes left in the .5 locker were missed..." We were sent pictures of the contents of four boxes. Three of those boxes contained our goods and one belonged to someone else. Why would another persons goods be in our locker?

When our goods were returned to us after storage, there were many missing items. However there was also a small table that was not our property in with our furniture. Why would furniture belonging to some else be found in our locker?
To our surprise, the movers did not bother to take that table with them to return to the owner, even though it was placed beside the front door of the apartment.

It seems apparent that Action Movers has very poor control of furniture and goods within their care in their warehouses.

Replacing the hair dryer, hair straightener, and some hair products cost more than the $300 you have offered. In addition, makeup is very expensive and acquired over time. My daughter suggest that the makeup she had acquired is likely worth twice what you have offered. With the cold wet weather she has had to purchase a warm coat and boots. A bed frame is nearly $100 dollars, and we haven't looked into the cost of acquired a headboard yet. There are many other items that have sentimental value that cannot be replaced.

A settlement of $1500 dollars would be closer to the cost of replacement of all these items. However, if you are not willing to make such an offer, I am determined to hire a lawyer and work for a settlement in court. If that is necessary, compensation will include legal fees and a reimbursement of all storage costs.

I await your response.

Final Business Response /(4000, 11, 2018/02/09) */
Good Morning Mr.,

We appreciate your response, and do take responsibility that items you claim are missing, are in fact missing. The biggest mistake was that your items went into overflow into a 3rd locker and took half a locker and our warehouse staff loaded another client is the same locker to take the other half.
Another point is that NO inventory list was created to even verify that we took these boxes and headboard to our warehouse.
Because we would like to see a resolution and close this matter, we will be sending you a certified cheque in the amount of $2000.00 to cover the replacement costs and partial storage costs you incurred.
We appreciate that a resolution has been made and consider this matter closed.
thank you
