Action Fabricators & Erectors Inc. Reviews (1)

Late September of 2014, Action Fabricators & Erectors was hired to install gate operator. I was assured that it would be a four day job, but after they dismantled my old gate and exposing my back yard for possible trespassers, the job took nearly four weeks.
After the work was “done”, my first complaint was that the boards that were fastened to the newly installed frame were not level across the top. The boards were jagged and uneven cuts and weren’t the same height as the rest of the fence in the back yard.
The second thing that was a disappointment on was that after I spoke with the technician that was installing the control panel, I requested the conduit to be fastened close to the fence, up under the deck, and up to the outlet where the control panel had to be plugged in so that it wouldn’t be an eyesore. He stated that he would do that. When the technician ran the conduit, he did the opposite of what I asked. After I complained to the sales representative about it, he stated that they were not electricians and that I would have to get an electrician to re-route the conduit. Additionally, the technician never showed on days he said he was going to work on the job.
Another unsatisfactory workmanship on this job was two inch gaps that people could look into my back yard rending a “privacy” gate useless. I had to request plates to be welded where those gaps were on the opposite side; som[redacted]ing that Action Fabricators lacked the intuition to think of on their own.
Several months after the work was “completed”, I was parking my car in the back; I stopped in the middle of gateway to move an object out of the driveway. The car was blocking the sensor, but the gate started to close on my car anyway. I was able to stop the gate from hitting my vehicle.
I opened the control panel for the first time to see if there were any errors or alarms, and noticed a green wire that was exposed and not inserted. The green wire led to the safety eye, which explains why it wasn’t working properly. I was hesitant to contact Action Fabricators about this deficiency due to our previous experience with them. Through the holidays, and busy events, I kept delaying the inevitable in contacting Action Fabricators. After this technical glitch occurred, I added a keypad on the outside of my gate (unrelated to safety eye). I recently and finally contacted Action Fabricators, April 2015, to look at the safety eye after a second time of the gate closing on my car.
The technician was dispatched to look at the safety eye, after he properly inserted the green wire into its proper place; the safety eye was working properly, then I received a bill for $125.00. I was irate that I got a bill for som[redacted]ing that the technician failed to do the first time upon completing the job back in October 2014. I called and spoke with a lady by the name of “B[redacted]” and she started to argue with me that I should’ve called back in December when the gate initially closed on my car, second, she stated that I opened the control panel to install a keypad and therefore can’t be sure if I pulled out the green wire or if they failed to insert it. I didn’t know pressing a “Learn Button” caused wires to come out.
She also stated that I rerouted the conduit, (50-75ft away from the control panel), and that could have caused the green wire to come undone, which is nowhere connected or involved with the conduit being moved, to come out. She stated that the operator was working fine upon the completion of the job; I’m guessing that statement is bucketed in the same category as the uneven cuts of my boards that they try to pass off as being good, the four day job that went into four weeks, the running of the conduit, and the gaps in the gate as part of their work [redacted]ics and integrity.
After trying to reason with “B[redacted]” with logic, she became irritated with me and told me to pay the bill or don’t pay the bill she doesn’t care, but instructed me to never call again. I don’t have a problem paying for $125.00 for a service request if it was my fault, after all, I paid over $4,000 for the job, and I think $125 is a drop in the bucket, but it’s the principle of the matter. If it was my fault, being charge $125 to insert one little green wire is an extreme charge for the work being done. I shouldn’t have to pay $125.00 for som[redacted]ing that wasn’t installed properly and tested by the technician.
Since the green wire was re-inserted, the gate is operating as planned and is finally to my expectations, but the journey that it took to get there was unpleasant. I would recommend looking to a different company to install a gate operator and only use Action Fabricators & Erectors as a last resort.
