I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
Regardless of how many years Action has been in business, it
does not justify the quality of the job that was doneWhile their work may be
up to their standards, obviously it is not a sufficient standard for what they
call “Marine”Based on research I have done on other shops that I have spoken
to, (which are not located in the NY area) take pride in their Marine powder
coating and also warranty their work for over a yearConsidering, bare
uncoated aluminum holds up better that Action’s powder coating, is sad to say
the job was not done properlyI am only asking for the money back from Action,
so that I can have the job done properly by a shop who takes pride and quality
in their work, who will back their work, and their product for something they
advertise

If this is the case, then you should
notify the customer before they spend a ton of money powder coating. Which you
did not, you told me it would be fine in the marine environment. I have parts
that you did that are lifting in the middle where there is no exposed aluminum.
The edges I expect to have some lifting over time but not in the middle, not in
such large quantities and not in such a short period of time. Why would anyone
want to powder coat anything marine, if it only lasted 3 months on the water?
All that money and time to prepare those parts, for it all to be done every 3
months? Doesn't make sense to me. There is powder coating from the manufacturer
on these parts from 2008. And obviously after 6 years of use, it is peeling. But
that is 6 YEARS. I had another powder coater on long island look at it, and I
was told that it was not done properly. I uploaded before and after pictures of
some of the parts, so we all can see.
For action to say that I do not know how to maintain my ski is an insult to me.
I have had this same ski for 4 years! It is used in the same saltwater
conditions, and maintained to perfection. After each use, I spray the engine
with soap and fresh water to prevent any external corrosion. The WD-40 makes a
mess and ends up in the environment, which I am sure the EPA would not be happy
about. My Engine and hull are spotless; you can eat off it (Besides the flaking
powder coating). For example, my orange valve cover. I had access to cleaning
that after every use. Why did that bubble half way through the season?

ACTION POWDERCOATING HAS BEEN DOING BUSINESS IN THE TRI-STATE AREA FOR OVER 15 YEARS,SERVING ALL CUSTOMIZED SHOPS AND RESIDENTS.WE ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IN THE POWDERCOATING FIELD AND FOR A CUSTOMER TO SAY THAT OUR JOB WAS NOT DONE CORRECT IS AN INSULT TO US. I TRIED EXPLAINING TO THIS CUSTOMER...

THAT SALT WATER IS VERY CORROSIVE,ESPECIALLY TO ALUMINUM PARTS,SALT WATER DOES NOT ATTACK THE POWDER IT ATTACKS THE ALUMINUM BENEATH IT,WHICH THEN LIFTS THE POWDER OFF THE ALUMINUM PART. IT IS VERY HARD TO PREVENT THIS IN THAT TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT. THERE ARE 3 STEPS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RUNNING A WATERCRAFT IN THE SALT WATER... A) FLUSH OUT THE ENGINE, B) WASH THE OUTSIDE OF THE ENGINE, C)SPRAY AN ANTI CORROSION ON IT (WD-40)... I TRIED EXPLAINING ALL THAT TO CUSTOMER BUT HE CHOSE TO BLAME US AND NOT WANT TO HEAR IT,ALSO IN OUR DEFENSE WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU LEARN HOW TO SERVICE YOUR WATERCRAFT OR VEHICLE BEFORE AND AFTER USE. THIS CUSTOMER IS NOT DUE ANY TYPE OF REFUND

Review: Last year I went to action powder coating to coat my jet ski parts/engine parts. At the time action claimed that powder coating was for marine environments. I proceeded to bring my parts to have coated which came out excellent. I assembled my parts on the engine and had the ski on the water in the beginning of the 2013 season. After a month or 2 I noticed the powder coating was starting to change color right away, but didn't think anything of it. At the beginning of 2014 I started work on a new motor and had that coated by action. It wasn't until around march 2014 that I had the chance to pull out the old engine. To my surprise all that money on the coating and time I spent, the coating was all flaking off. This made me very upset, since I spent all that time prepping so this wouldn't happen. The paint from 2008 on the old parts held up better than the new powder coating. I did some research, and talked to experts who said that it was not prepped properly. Powder coating is not my specialty so I do not know. But after that I called action telling them that their coating is flaking off, and I spent a lot of money on it. I said why didn't you tell me this when I first brought my jet ski parts in? He said to me, we don't know what you know. We have people in here all the time and they still powder coat even though they know the coating doesn't last. This made me extremely upset. To me that is stealing, and grubbing money from the customer. I proceded to argue on the phone and tried to come to some sort of common ground. I proposed that they refund me the money I spent in 2014 for the new engine so that I could properly coat it. After countless arguing over the phone, they wouldn't warranty their work or refund me anything. I now have the old engine parts that are rapidly deteriorating, and some parts I already had to spend money to coat properly. I would like a refund for all the parts coated at that facility, and for all the misleading. I don't know how many other customers this has happened to.Desired Settlement: Full refund of all parts powder coated.
