First of all I do not tell anyone they can not do their own repairsI did state that Idid not Know what the job might entail on that vehicleI did say that It would cost$for us to do the job.We used a flushing tee to join the heater hoses together the tee was 1/8" smallerthen the hose this
connection would not damage the hosesAnd as this vehicle Isequipped with a heater shut off valve, which completely shuts off water flowthrough the heater hoses, a alight restriction will have no effect on engine coolingat all.I had told the customer that I thought the job would cost $however Ichecked the labor guide for replacing heater hoses (1.2hrs) and the heater controlvalve (1.0hrs)The job took hrs which Included the flushing tee topping thecoolant & testingOur hourly shop rate Is $per hour I therefore felt $100.00was very fair.We believe we did the job right and charged a fair price.ACTION RADIATOR, INC

What is tangible is the fact that other mechanics have looked at this and said clearly that the wrong size fitting was used and the heater hoses are now compromisedThis is visible in the image which I filed with my complaint and again in this responseMy heater hoses are obviously clamped and pinched beyond reasonable tolerances they are now bulging on either side of the wrong fitting
He indicates that the vehicle is equipped with a shut off valveIs he saying that the fitting he put in is a shut off valve or that said shutoff valve is standard equipment for this vanIf the latter is true than this job was not even necessaryNo other mechanic has indicated that a shut off valve was needed and the one installed by Action Radiator is clearly an old used plastic part

The fact remains that one need only look under the hood to see the work done could have been completed by any mechanic in a half hour or less

R£:[redacted]I state again that we used a flushing tee to join the heater hoses together the teewas 1/8" smaller then the hose this connection would not damage the hoses. Thisvehicle has a shut off valve as standard equipment. We repaired as we did toprevent anti-freeze or anti-freeze fumes from getting into the passengercompartment.
