Acura of Peabody Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. As you are aware, I became critically ill very soon after purchasing the vehicle and was hospitalized for an extended period of time.  During this time the vehicle was not driven.  However, my daughter would start the car and let it run for a short period of time on a daily basis.  She also kept it clear of snow and ice throughout this time.  It was during one of these times she discovered that the fan for the heater/defroster/AC only functioned when in the HIGH position.  The LOW and MEDIUM fan levels did not work at all.  When I was finally able to consider getting the vehicle inspected and begin driving it we discovered the battery had died and the car would not start.  I contacted Acura of Peabody regarding the battery and was told there was nothing they could do as the warranty had ended.  I persisted with my phone calls and explanations to several people at several different levels and Acura of Peabody finally agreed to send me a check for $100.00.  They stated they did this as a good faith gesture and also because there was a $100.00 deductible on the warranty.  I did accept the check but quite honestly, I could not understand where, if this was a good faith gesture and the warranty had run out, the deductible came in.  I was thankful for what I got and it helped.       When I was finally able to get the vehicle inspected in April of 2016 by my Certified Mechanic he determined the problem with the fan was due to the resistor no longer functioning properly.  Due to the cost of the repair I was unable to afford to get it repaired immediately.  It was during this time when we needed to use the air conditioner that we discovered it was not working.  When I finally was able to have the fan repaired I asked my mechanic to check the air conditioner.  His initial thought was that the Freon needed to be charged.  However, he discovered that the Freon was actually charged well above the recommended level.  He then proceeded to check the air conditioning system from start to finish and found the problem was that the compressor was no longer functioning.  His professional opinion was that it was the over-charging of the Freon that caused the compressor to stop functioning.  Again, I contacted Acura of Peabody to inform them of yet another repair to this vehicle.  They again indicated that the warranty had ended and could not help but did suggest we contact a [redacted] dealership as several of the 2012 [redacted]s were on a recall for the compressor.  My particular [redacted] was not on the recall list and an estimate for the repair by [redacted] was almost $1,000.00 for parts and labor.  It was at this time I decided to contact the Revdex.com and seek your assistance in resolving the issue.  In addition, I continued to make numerous phone calls to Acura of Peabody and speaking to people on several different levels regarding this issue.       I am a 78- year old woman, living on a fixed income with some serious medical problems.  One of which is my lungs and breathing.  At this time, I am unable to drive or be in the vehicle, because there is no air conditioning, when the temperature and humidity are high, as they have been for most of the summer now.  Please understand, I am grateful for the offer from Acura of Peabody of $600.00 but having to pay the $300.00 in labor myself is still a hardship for me.  My fixed income is also why I did not opt to purchase an extended warranty.  I have attached the invoices for the repairs I have already had to make on the vehicle, the estimate from [redacted] Company for repair of the AC/compressor and a picture of my inspection sticker showing the issue date of 4/8/16.   An acceptable resolution to this situation for me would be for Acura of Peabody, at the very least, to cover the entire cost of the AC repair in full including a new compressor not a rebuilt one.  At most due to the numerous repairs already required I would like to request they additionally restart the 90-day warranty on the vehicle.      Thank you in advance for your time and consideration of this matter.  I am grateful for all of your assistance and advice.  Respectfully,[redacted]
Regards,
[redacted]

In responding to customer complaint # [redacted], we have settled with said customer on the issue of requesting compensation on an A/C repair of the vehicle. The vehicle was purchased from Acura of Peabody in December 2015 with a 90 day Massachusetts powertrain and safety related items warranty....

Although the A/C system in the vehicle at delivery time was operational, it is not covered under the pre-owned vehicle state mandated warranty but felt it necessary to offer assistance to customer as a good will gesture.  We have been in communication with customer on her request of compensation and have settled this matter to the satisfaction of said customer and Acura of Peabody.
