Review: Our customer contracted ACW to design, provide, and install the cabinets for our kitchen and bathrooms. They had full specifications of every appliance that was to be installed, yet they failed to allow proper clearance between gas cooktop and the hood. Both the cooktop and hood manuals state a 24" - 30" minimum clearance between the cooktop and the hood for safety and usability reasons. We have 20".When heating water last night, the hood became hot enough to burn my hand after only a few minutes. The hood is not able to properly vent the heat as it is too close to the source. We have made several inquiries to get this issue resolved, but so far I have only received an estimate on the cost of replacement cabinets. ACW had the plans for the home, the appliance manuals and they created the design for the kitchen. As such, we feel that they are responsible for the improper design and installation, as well as the cost of remediation.Desired Settlement: Our total cabinet cost was over $11,000. The replacement cabinets (as quoted by ACW) would cost ~$430. We will also need to get a sheetrocker involved, and we will need to have the hood and outside vent moved. I have not yet received quotes for this work. We would accept either the cabinets and a credit for installation from ACW, or a check for the full amount of repair costs.
