We were first contacted by the [redacted]’s by telephone in the afternoon hours of 072617 as they were having vehicle overheating issues with their vehicle and needed a wrecker. We work with AA Auto Towing and their business number was provided to Mr. [redacted]. The [redacted] vehicle was towed to our...

shop for repair. The vehicle was given a cursory examination in Mr. [redacted]’s presence and the conclusion was that the thermostat was in question. Mr. [redacted] indicated that he had replaced the thermostat in the last year or so but suspected that was the cause as well. The parts were ordered for delivery the next morning. Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] and their luggage were transported by us to a motel for the night. Our technicians continued to work with the vehicle trying to duplicate the problem the [redacted]s had experienced on the road. Although we could not duplicate the overheating condition we did determine that the engine oil was low enough to not register on the dip stick. The thermostat and housing were received the next morning and were installed. What was remaining of the engine oil was changed along with the filter because of the level and extreme overheating. The vehicle was cleared by the technician. The [redacted] s were contact by telephone and we picked them and their luggage up at the motel and transported them to the shop for the return of their vehicle. Mr. [redacted] was shown and advised about the work that had been done and he agreed that it was time for the oil to be changed and that they still had several thousand miles to go on their trip. The invoice was given to Mr. [redacted] for payment and it was not questioned nor was any complaint stated. Mrs. [redacted] however waited until our handyman open the garage door for them and was subject to a lecture. The handyman didn’t deserve here ire and since the owner was present in the building, any complaint should have been taken to him at that time. The next morning the scheduler called to follow-up on the [redacted]s welfare and to make sure that they had no further vehicle issues and was met by Mrs. [redacted]s complaints about being overcharged and the bill being padded. She would not listen to anything that was said. In retrospect our position is this. We referred them to a towing company that works with us and provides towing to people like the [redacted]s at about 50% of other local towing services. We try to be especially considerate to those traveling that are a long way from home and have no local resources. We take the extra time to help them with lodging and transportation and do everything we can to make sure that they are able to complete their trip without further issue. We don’t just throw parts at vehicles. We spend the time to properly make repairs. I called Mr. [redacted] on the morning of August 14, 2017 and attempted to provide some resolution. I am rejecting this response because: This is not a true account. My wife did not lecture the handyman. Her only comment to him was "what a rip-off." He even shrugged as if he agreed! She did listen to the owners when he called the following day, just didn't agree with his comments. He actually hung up on her that day! When I was called a couple of days ago, the owner was not offering resolutions, he was only giving more empty excuses. He actually sounded very angry. So just as he padded the repair bill, he had filled his response to my complaint with Lisa and misleading statements. We only asked to have the thermostat replaced on the vehicle......nothing more. $700 was definitely an overcharge!!!
