Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***
I am following up on my complaint against adams Automotive in Hermon Maine I have received the complaint response and I would like to reply While purchasing the *** *** truck that the complaint is regarding I was told that there had been front end damage to vehicle and was shown pictures I was advised from Adam's that the damage was fixed and the vehicle had no other issuesApproximately months later I went to trade the truck in and it was then learned from the dealership that they pulled a carfax and the truck I purchased from Adam's had a rebuilt/salvaged title with unknown miles I was tole because of this the vehicle value would be significantly less I was NEVER advised during the transaction with Adam's Auto that the that the vehicle was totaled or salvaged I signed the copy of the title application that was clearly marked used Although Adam's state's that they "told me or explained" to me I was never made aware of the Rebuilt Title This title which was signed by my wife and I was then sent to Secretary of State of Maine where they stated that it marked used in error Please follow thru with this complaint I will await your response
Regards,
*** ***

I would like to respond to the complaint from *** ***.1) When *** first inquired about the truck he asked whether or not it had been in an accident I informed him that the nature of our business is to purchase vehicles from insurance companies that have sheet metal damage
We then replace the panels that need to be replaced and that it would be a rebuilt title I am always up front with customers on this matter as I do not want to sell a vehicle with a rebuilt title without the customer knowing about it It is the law that they be notified and we are well aware of this I told him I would send him photos of the damage before we fixed it I have included a copy of that e-mail Not only did I have that discussion him up front, when I went over the Buyers Guide with him I went over the damage that was repaired and stated that it would have a rebuilt title I requested that if he understood all that to please sign the box on the back I have attached a copy of the Buyers Order with his signature on it.2) When we sell vehicles we give a day/1,mile warranty Mr*** brought the truck back to us with issues that we rectified for him One of the issues that was discovered after the sale was that the fuel gauge was not accurate, it needed a fuel pump to fix it We got a used fuel pump from our supplier and Mr*** was upset because it was not a new one I explained that if there had not been anything wrong with the pump it would not have a new one as it was a truck Unfortunately, the pump failed and we replaced it againMr*** was still not happy so we replaced it a third time with a brand new pump to make him happy In all the process he wanted to dictate where we bought the parts which is not how we operate our business In addition, he had a complaint about the radio not sounding as good as he would like and we ended up replacing the stereo and brand new speakers Once it was installed it needed to be programmed and we were unable to do that in our shop so we made arrangements with the *** dealership to have it done and we picked up the tab for that Further, he complained about the windshield which had a scratch from a windshield wiper but passed inspection Typically, individuals would negotiate that in the deal and he did not I could not make Mr *** understand that used vehicles are not always cosmetically perfect and decided to replace the windshield to make him happy I believe that we have been more than fair with him 3) At the time of purchase, Mr*** knew that the truck was a wheel drive He decided to purchase the truck even though he would have preferred to have a wheel drive We had not heard from him in quite a while and assumed that all was well with the truck Recently he stopped in to our shop and told me that he had tried to trade it in and the dealer would only give him $4,for the truck because it had a rebuilt title and there was an issue with the mileage When completing the paperwork to send to the State I inadvertently check of the box for "used" instead of "rebuilt" This is what he is referring to as a "fraudulent" title This was not intentional and I explained that to him I told him that I would contact the State and have that rectified I would also like to add that when you send in the title application on a rebuilt vehicle there are forms that you have to include that you do not if it is a used vehicle, the Title Department erred in issuing a title that said used when it was clearly a rebuilt vehicle I also inquired as to the number of miles that title had on it They reported to me that it had the correct number of miles on it which I provided at the time the paperwork was filed The issue with the mileage comes from the fact that when the auction company, in this case ***, receives a vehicle they attempt to start the vehicle and if it does not start they estimate the miles The Certificate of Salvage that was issued to us indicated that the vehicle had 68,and that they were not actual miles I have attached a letter from *** that explains their procedureI tried to explain to Mr*** that even though the dealer was only offering $4,did not mean that his truck was not worth more and that they always gave a low ball offer so that they could maximize their profits, I have also included a recent NADA valuation for the vehicle which clearly shows it to be worth in excess of $ Mr *** asked that we take the truck back I told him that we would take his truck as a trade in on another truck and we offered him $10,even after we knew that the other dealer only offered him the lower amount We had a four wheel drive *** *** that we told him would sell him for $6,and his truck He wanted us to lower the price even more and we refused, that is when Mr *** threatened us with legal action, we advised Mr *** that we have done nothing wrong and have made every effort to please him We made an honest effort to work with himWe were asking $for the wheel drive *** so our offer was effectively 10,for his tradeHe has owned this truck for over months and this was a very fair offerI asked Mr *** to be clear with me in why he is unhappy and he stated that he loves the truck and has no problem with it but he made a mistake and should have purchased a wheel drive
