Adam's Residential Services Reviews (1)

Mediocre work. Applied product not specified in original invoice. Surface of concrete not prepared for application. Product applied is flaking. May 7th 2016 I contracted Adams to do repair work on my screened porch. I agreed to his estimate and paid half down. I asked what it would cost to stain my concrete porch separate from the repair work. He gave me a price that I felt was too high and told him I was not willing to pay that much. He came back with a lower figure and I accepted that if he would include removing a few stains on my front roof and install siding on a small well pump house(I paid extra for the material) Adam agreed and did the work. I watch him begin to apply what I thought was stain. I questioned him about it and he said it was stain. It turned out to be epoxy paint and it began to flake up within a couple of days. I called him to come back to see if it can be repaired. After over a week he reluctantly came back with only a paint brush to only touch up the spots. I told him that would not work because the spots may not match and further flaking has occurred. He said that would mean repainting the whole porch. I said yes. I even had to supply him with paint rollers and trays and buy another gallon of paint. It took him less than an hour to paint and left mad. The next morning that layer of paint was coming up as well as the first coat. I have called and text him several times and he gave me every excuse why it is not his fault. He will not return my calls or has my number blocked. He made a comment that I did not want to pay for the prep work so he did not do it. I would have never agreed to not do the appropriate prep work. I told him just because he accepted a lower price that he should cut corners and do a bad job. He not only did not do the work properly but used the wrong material. It stated in the invoice that he was to apply stain not paint per my request.I have talked to several contractors and they all said the same thing that he did not do the job properly and did not use stain. I even told Adam that I wanted stain rather than paint due to paint has the tendency to not bond to concrete especially if the prep work is not done properly. The paint will have to be completely removed by using a diamond grinder and refinished. An expensive process that has to be done and for me to pay for. He advertises "all material and work guaranteed" Desired SettlementI have sent him a text that I would accept return of $500.00 to help pay for the removal work. It will cost me more than that. He has not responded.I have the texts between Adam and myself. Not counting numerous call. Business Response Homeowmer didnt want to pay to have the work done properly he wouldnt even pay me that $500 to do it right the first time. I already have gone back and repainted it for free no warranty was on the work yes we guarantee are work but I cant guarantee the product we used. The homeowner withheld my property and didnt want to pay me for extra rotten wood that we replaced which wasnt included in price because it was unforseen rotten wood. How can you expect me to give you $500 back to just paint floor when he wouldnt pay me but $150 to paint it I explained to him that for me doing it for cheaper than what I said that all I was going to do was paint the concrete and thats what we did and he agreed with those terms.Consumer Response Adam's response is total fabrication. As I stated in my complaint that I requested stain not paint. I would have never agreed to not do the work properly at any price. He is the one that accepted the lower price with no discussion on not doing the job correctly. I paid him for the porch and other charges of $300.00 to replace a few two by fours. That was reduced from 350.00 to 300.00 dollars. I have all documentation that I paid him every penny that he agreed to. He picked out the material to paint the floor but I asked for stain. That is in my contract. I don't know where he got $150.00 from. He is grasping at straws by stating I agreed for him not to do the job according to standards for covering concrete. Adam needs to read the contract to understand what was discussed, agreed to and amounts pain in full. He was not going to chalk the metal gaps and reluctantly did after I said he stated he would in the contract. I feel Adam is a young person that does not understand business and how to do a job to customer satisfaction. Also he did not wait the specified drying time before he applied the second coat. Yes he came back but after numerous calls and excuses. As I see in his response that there is no credibility in his work or agreements. Again why would I not want to have the work done properly. He felt he could cut corners and he would be gone. I still stand by my request for $500.00 to recoup some of the cost to remove his mistake. I feel that is fair and the easiest route to take. Final Business Response Homeowmer didnt want to pay to have the work done properly he wouldnt even pay me that $500 to do it right the first time.
