Ada's Floor Coverings

Review: Please forgive my format, but I’m 90 yrs. Old, almost blind in one eye and can’t deal with computers.

My complaint is with [redacted] of Ada’s Floors of Morro Bay. I am enclosing the work order for your reference. I had them install vinyl floor covering in one bedroom and hallway. I have a very small, 2 bedroom, 1,295 sq. ft. home.

[redacted] measured on 3/4/15 – did not tell me what measurements were. The two young men who installed the materials, on Mar. 24 and 25, did a fine job and the materials I chose are gorgeous. It’s brand new on the [redacted]et made in USA! – by the 3M, Scotchgard Co. – varying beige tones and I couldn’t be happier with results.

My problem is with [redacted] and his bill. As you can see by the work order, he is charging me for 59 sq. yards. The installer left me with a huge roll – 10 ft. long and as big around as a roll of paper towels; left over, which I can’t use, but paid for. I went over to see [redacted] on 3-26-15, to pay the other half of my bill and questioned a few items on the invoice each query – he had an answer – he ordered a little extra, in case they ran short.

Michael, the installer, told me that he was leaving me the 19 sq. yds. Roll, as it was mine. He also told me that he was returning 14 sq. yds. to [redacted].

When I went over to Ada’s to pay my bill, [redacted] told me that he had bought a 100 sq. yard roll in case I needed extra. I could always get it from him, to go with what I have in case I ever need. Because I cannot deal with this situation alone and needed a second opinion, I contacted another floor installer, Jay H., who has his own shop in Los Osos and is a neighbor of mine.

I asked Jay if he would be willing for me to hire him to make a separate area in my living room and install my roll of vinyl? He said with my set up he wouldn’t advise it. He saw my work order and said that I have been takin advantage of. He said the installer should have returned the left over roll to [redacted], and that the amount I paid for, it should be credited back to me. He also said I was overcharged for labor as Michael did not install 59 sq. yards. Jay also said I should have been given a diagram of the area ahead of time and labeled, master bedroom and hallways and footage. Because of Jay’s input, I feel justified in contacting you. If you can give me any encouragement or advice as to how to proceed, I would appreciate it.Desired Settlement: Reimburse for the extra material.
