In particular, I note that the domain name (http://us-postoffice.org) used by this company to mislead consumers who are searching for the *** *** *** *** website is still activeAlthough the company has promptly refunded all of my payment, other victims may not be as vigilant in monitoring their financesThus, other people may fall victim to the trap laid by the company and may not receive the refund to which they are entitled.
Despite the disclaimer language in the company's response and on the website, the general feel and dress of the website is clearly designed to mislead people into thinking that the website is affiliated with the *** *** *** ***. The title and main banner of the website include the words "Post Office." The main banner further includes a seal with the word "post" and and image of an American flag. The website also includes information and news events that would ordinarily only be found on the office *** *** *** *** website. Even though the website gives notice at the top of the landing page that the website is not affiliated with the US Post Office, the notice is not within the main view of the website (being positioned above the main banner while most websites do not include text above the main banner). It would be very easy for a consumer to miss the notice (as I did when I initiated the transaction that led to this complaint), particularly when burdened with the stress of moving. Thus, the company appears to target consumers who are looking for the official US Post Office website
In order to resolve my complaint, the company must make its domain name less deceptive. For example, domain names that would be less deceptive include http://agent-for-us-postoffice.com, http://address-change-assistance.com, http://over-priced-address-change.com, etc
