I bought a car for $1,900. less than 10 hrs later the oil pan had a leak and lost all the oil. I brought it back to him and he said I would have to pay half of the $90. cost of a new oil pan so I gave him $45. Being dumb about my rights about the lemon laws I gave it to him. Then less than 24 hours there were no brakes, trunk would not stay open and he gave me a stick and told me to use it to keep the trunk open. I had the car for three days and asked for my money back because other mechanics I had look at it said the front end was shot to hell and it would never pass inspection. He gave me back my money but would not return the $45 for the oil pan. I missed 3 days of work also not having a car. He also insisted that when I went to have it inspected I was to give it to him so his friend could do it.Desired SettlementI want $45. for the oil pan and $180 for 3 days lost wages, ($60 a day) because I had no car. he took my old car and had it crushed. I was without a vehicle and could not work.Business Response she bought the car from another customer that I have in my garage. I was only a broker between them. and the proof is that there is no receipt or a bill of sale under my name.First she agreed to pay half the cost of the oil pan which is $45 to the guy she bought the car from and not me. all what I did was replacing the oil pan for free because both of them are my customers. second, on the day we replaced the oil pan I gave her a replacement car to use. Third, she never got the car she bought form the guy inspected, instead she drove the car using her old license plate. she asking me to compensate her for missing 3 days of work. she used the car she bought for 5 days without registering it honestly she owes me for helping her out.I have nothing to do with her car I was just trying to help. she even wrote us a greeting card that I still have in my garage thanking the garage for the help we provided her with her car. I am really disappointed that after all this she is complaining about my garage to Revdex.com. I did all this because she is my [redacted], [redacted] and I always help her out with her cars.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Being a "Broker" as he claims to be then he is responsiable for the condition of the car he sold me. Aside from the oil pan there was also no brakes in the car. He told me that it was sitting in the lot for 4 months and it was just a little rusty and as I drove the car the rust would come off the brakes and it should be ok. I did not put the car on the road until I had it checked out by other mechanics and was told it was a death trap and I had the right to get my money back and in no way should I have been charged for the oil pan repairs. I had no other choice but to agree to pay $45.00 for half the cost of the oil pan seeing as that the car had NO OIL in it less than 12 hours after I paid my money for it. I was pressured into that argeement. He offered to let me use a car knowing the one he sold me was being held up for repairs in his shop and I had an important out of town doctors appointment that I could not miss. I was in tears. I paid good money for a car that he should of went thru throughly before selling to me and he did not do that. When I opened the trunk and it came crashing down on my head and I got a gash I told him the trunk would not enven stay open. He said that was no problem, turned around and went into his garage and came out with a stick and said use this to keep it open. That was his soultion to fixing the trunk. I just want the $45.00 for the cost of the oil pan. When I gave the car back he turned around and sold it the next day to someone else and they are making me pay for something that someone else is now driving. I want the money back for the oil pan repair. I will not pursue the money I lost for not being able to work. Even tho I had the car for 5 days it sat in my driveway most of the time because I was afraid to drive it seeing I was told by REAL mechanics that the front end was ready to drop and if I was driving it I could be killed. I want the money back. If he was acting on someone elses behalf then he took on the responsiability for the sale of the car. This is not an honest man. He took advantage of a situation that he was profiting from.
