The patient was transported by our EMS client to a hospital in May of 2015. Although the patient states that we were filing the claim to ***, our documentation shows that we filed this claim in a timely manner with the VA as requested, and the VA acknowledged receipt of the claim.
While the EMS bill was timely filed and has been updated with all information which was requested by the VA, the VA states that they will not pay for the ambulance transport unless they receive the medical records from the hospital for the care provided by the facility. According to the VA, none of the hospital records were received and the VA therefore denied the claim for the services. This claim status was reconfirmed June 13, using the telephone contact information provided by the patient. Review of the transport records also confirms the patient signed a form at the time of transport indicating that he was the party responsible for payment for services. Accordingly, the patient has continued to receive bills for the services. Leigh B*** ############
