Hello and thank you for taking the time to mediate on this matter. For the record on 10-29-I received a phone call regarding a repair for a motorcycle that was serviced by selfHe tried to explain the symptoms were not holding an idle hard starting conditionI advised him that if it is exactly as he explained, the service (carburetor adjustment to carburetor clean without parts) would vary from hour ($32.50) for a adjustment and hours ($162.50) for a carburetor clean at $per hourI also explained that if there were not any parts needed it should take or days and if parts are needed they will be at least days to receive once we determine what is neededAt the end of the day the motorcycle was brought to my shop in the back of a pickup truck leaning over on its side and in dissembled conditionDue to this I let him know that this complicates the repair and please be patientIt makes a repair much more difficult when the customer services the motorcycle and does not assemble it back to manufactures specificationsMr [redacted] expressed to me that the bike was his only means of transportation, and I explained to him that we would do the best we can, but if needed the parts would need to be shipped from out of state if he was willing to pay the $overnight fee they would be here much quickerI understood his desperate situation and had my technician move it up in line and work on it 10-It was reported back to me that it needed parts to make it runThey were a Carburetor holder, carburetor holder clamp, orings at intake manifold ,throttle set screw and a throttle set screw springMr [redacted] called at the end of 10-31, I let him know of the parts needed and he asked me if there was anywhere else I could get any of the parts for less moneyI informed him that all of the parts were needed with the exception of the throttle set screw Mr [redacted] was also informed that the parts ordered would only make it run and may not make it run wellHe instructed me to not order the set screw due to money restrictionsAt this point I wanted to return the bike back to him due to him not having the money to fix his motorcycle properlyThat was not an option and wanted to complete the job even if it meant giving him free shop time to completeThe correct date that he contacted me at was Thursday 11-6, I let him know that the parts were in and I was hoping to complete the repair today or tomorrow and to please wait for my callDuring that day he persisted in calling more than times throughout the dayFinally at almost the end of the day the bike was running but not road testedI got another call from Mr [redacted] , he was informed that the motorcycle was running but not test ridden and wait for my call to come hereA short time later I call him to let him know that it may take a bit more time, he shows up minutes later and I let him know that there is still some time needed to reassemble also that I searched my used inventory and found a used set screw which I was giving him at no charge, saving him about $At this time I suggested calling his ride back he lets me know that his phone is out of battery and can not, I offer him a phone charger and he declinesI was hoping that he saw all of the extra efforts that we were going through for himThe bike was test ridden at the end of the day to find out that there were still issues that were in relation to the carburetorThe original issue was not with the carburetor but with the air leak at the seal at the carburetor joint otherwise known as the intake manifoldWe informed him that we would have to remove the carburetor tomorrow and open it up to inspect for failureDue to the nature of our discussion I asked for payment for the parts and a small deposit for the labor equaling $he refused and said that I will get paid when the job is completed and not beforeI have been defrauded for service before on similar instances and therefore insisted on paymentI also let him know that he had paid for the air leak between the carburetor and the head and not any carburetor work and there would be further charges for that workHe let me know that he does not have any more money and I suggested taking anything of value (guns, electronics, maybe the title of his bike) to a pawn shop or title loan so that the bike could be fixed properlyHe told me to just fix it I will get paid and proceeded to walk out of the shopon 10-we inspected the carburetor and found out the float needle was worn and failing causing the motorcycle to flood with gasolineMr [redacted] was informed of the situation and he did not understand that there was more that just the one issue with the motorcycleI did my best to explain the basics of the repair due to him letting me know at the beginning of the repair that he was a auto mechanic and the only reason that he is not fixing it is due to time constraintsI let him know that the carburetor float needle was failing causing the bike to flood with gasoline and I suspected it to be running rich due to improper jettingI ordered the parts as requested and I paid the overnight fee to get the float needle and several main jets here (the float needle got ordered through the dealer using [redacted] and the jets shipped ***)The float needle gets here on 11-11, it gets installed and ranNow that I will run without overflowing fuel, we ride it and discover that the motorcycle runs horrible with the current main jet, I run around town trying to get a smaller main jet with no luck realizing that [redacted] would not deliver on Veterans dayWe call Mr [redacted] to let him know about the shipping problem he lets us know that he is picking it upI at this point let him know that his bike is over jetted and is he puts in a smaller jet will repair itI offer him a tow and he declines again I reduce his bill to the original amount and he regretfully pays the billI was hoping satisfy the customer and to complete the motorcycle, although I feel that there was no way to please the customer other than a full refund

it is exactly as he explained, the service (carburetor adjustment to carburetor clean without parts) would vary from .5 hour ($32.50) for a adjustment and 2.5 hours ($162.50) for a carburetor clean at $65 per hour. I also explained  that if there were not any parts needed it should take 3 or 4 days and if parts are needed they will be at least 5 days to receive once we determine what is needed. At the end of the day the motorcycle was brought to my shop in the back of a pickup truck leaning over on its side and in dissembled condition. Mr. [redacted] expressed to me that the bike was his only means of transportation, and I explained to him that we would do the best we can, but if needed the parts would need to be shipped from out of state if he was willing to pay the $75 overnight fee they would be here much quicker. I understood his desperate situation and had my technician move it up in line and work on it 10-31. It was reported back to me that it needed parts to make it run. They were a Carburetor holder, carburetor holder clamp, 2 orings at intake manifold ,throttle set screw and a throttle set screw spring.
