Review: On May 12, 2015, at approximately 9:00, I placed an order for a two tier cake for my God daughter's graduation. The total for the cake was $186.00. The cashier stated that a deposit was required for cakes over $35.00, but did not indicate how much to put down. I decided to put down 85.00. Keep in mind that the pickup for this cake was May 23, 2015. On May 13, 2015, at approximately 8:25, not twenty-four hours later, I returned to the store to cancel the order. I was advised by an employee that there was a thirty-five dollar fee for all cancelled orders. This fee is not stipulated on the receipt, nor did the employee advise me of the fee. Being that the cake wasn't due to be picked up for two weeks, I didn't see how they expected me to pay for just ordering the cake not twenty-four hours ago. I asked if I could order something for $35.00 and was told no.The employee pointed to a section on the receipt that stated "deposits are not refundable." This is a sham because the receipt does not stipulate a percentage, or a minimum deposit required, so what would be considered my non refundable deposit, 10, 20, 30, 80, 90, or 100 dollars? The employee also refused to give me back my receipt although I explained to her that I wanted to talk this over with the manager/owner. I have purchased several special order cakes and have never had this happen to me. I have also had to cancel a cake from a very well known bakery in New Orleans and received a refund in full with no problem. I understand if I had waited until two days before, or the day when the cake was due to be picked up, but two weeks prior? I certainly don't understand that. I was refunded $50.00 and the business kept $35.00 even though the amount they are to keep from the customer is not spelled out on the receipt. So my guess is that had I put down only twenty dollars, what is the amount they would have kept? I call this shady business practices. Needless to say, I have shopped here before, but I will never shop here again.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded my money in full. The business owes me $35.00. I would also like to see a minimum deposit amount indicated on the receipt. It should also stipulate what amount is non-refundable. If the deposit amount is left up to the customer, how is that fair?

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Adrian's Five Star Bakery regarding complaint ID 10623919, however my complaint has NOT been resolved becauseThe order forms still do not indicate that 35 dollars of your money is non- refundable . And not that your deposit is non refundable, with no mention of what a minimum deposit is.
