I feel it is a fraudulent practice in the way that this company does business. They require a $150 bus ticket for entry into the program, along with the application fee. When my daughter was unilaterally excluded from the program, I was told to either come get my daughter, or they would have her start walking home (about 50 miles away). I was told "she's resourceful. She'll find a way to get there". When I went to get my daughter, she was not demonstrating any of the "being high" behavior that they accused her of. I asked about her belongings. I was given large garbage bags of her clothing. I asked about her suitcases, and I was told everything that she had brought with her to this place was in the bags. That there was no further property. We later found out that the luggage with clothing WAS still at the facility, but that they had donated it.

A follow up showed that a very sentimental piece of jewelry was left, but that the more significant dog-tags of my deceased grandfather were reportedly given to my daughter upon her exit of the program. My daughter was with me the entire return trip home, and the dog tags were not in any of her pockets like the program insisted that they had put them in.

They kept the $150 return trip bus fare after making me come get her or risk having her walk home some 50 miles away. There is no legitimate basis for keeping the money.

I think it is important to further note that the Company unilaterally terminated the rehabilitation process with them. If what they say is true (which I don't believe), the choice was to come get my daughter immediately, or they would force her to begin walking home while under the influence of hard drugs (where she reportedly could not even speak or walk straight down the hallway).

What kind of "Christian organization" treats their patients this way? May God have mercy on the frauds running this organization...more mercy than they have on those they proclaim to help.

Desired Outcome

Refund Refund of my $450 fee and the $150 fee for the bus fare. While the program legitimately "earned" the $450 fee, there is no basis for keeping the $150 return bus fare. It is not a situation where they offered to put her on the bus and she refused. They flat out said, "Come get her, or we make her walk". While the $450 fee was earned, the improper disposal of the luggage and contents resulted in a financial loss greater than $450, and I feel that is fair.

In an effort to maintain a safe environment for our other students, the student in question was dismissed from our program for serious infractions on 7/5/18. The student was under the influence that day and failed her drug screen for multiple substances. We did not feel it was in the student's best interest to place her on a bus in that condition. Her father and grandmother were called and asked if they would come to pick her up, since they had just dropped her off that morning. We explained the student's condition to them and no hesitation was made, other than making arrangements at work, to come get her. In her condition, the student was in no shape to be around the other students, so staff packed her belongings. We have a policy (attached) that states the student has 72 hours to retrieve belongings. This was signed by the student upon admission. Once she left, the next week we received a call about her luggage. We were unable to locate it at first, but then received another call on 7/23/18 and we searched again; the luggage was found. The student's grandmother came the next day 7/24/18 to retrieve the luggage. The necklace was also mailed out on 7/23/18 to the grandmother's address, as requested. We wish only the best for the student's recovery and restoration. In an effort to alleviate frustrations, we are offering a refund for the $150 bus-fare.
