Our bed was damaged by Advance employees during recent move. Emails and phone calls were exchanged; no reimbursement or repair occurred as promised. On 5/19/14, Advance Moving was hired to assist with moving our furniture. Two employees arrived to assist us in moving the items within our home. During this process our bed was damaged. The headboard was dropped, resulting in the post becoming detached. The impact of the headboard hitting the footboard also resulted in damage. The business was contacted immediately after this incident, the two movers were told to leave in the middle of the job without taking payment. They had been on the job less than 1 hour. One employee apologized that the company reacted in this manner and offered to come back to assist us after hours. The business representative asked that I send photographs of the damage. Photographs were sent on 5/20/14. The business replied "Thank you. We will be in touch by tomorrow afternoon and attempt to have a workable game plan to take care of things. Also what is the name of the storage unit in (name of location)?" The name of the storage unit was provided. The business indicated that they would repair the bed which would be taken to storage because it could not be used. Cell phone records will show that this business was contacted multiple times in the upcoming weeks but they did not follow through on repairing the damage. I am highly disappointed in their service, we have used this company in the past several years prior without incident.Desired SettlementWe simply would like our bed repaired. If they are unable to repair the damage, we would like to be reimbursed for the damage.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted] PresidentContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX Contact Email: [redacted]@gmail.comThank you for the opportunity to resolve this matter. I am in error in taking too long to respond and for that I am sorry. Hopefully we can resolve this now.May 9, 2014, a Friday, we received a call from [redacted] regarding helping load her rental truck. Their time changed during the day and we accommodated them. Our time begins when the truck leaves the office for a move and ends when it returns from the same job. Including travel time they were gone one hour and 30 minutes. At $110.00 per hour that would be a total of $165.00 for the total cost. Upon arrival the men shrink wrapped some pieces and moved some pieces. The bed that was damaged was already taken apart by the customer or her husband and was against a wall. The men moved a mattress or box spring and were in the hall with it and heard the bed fall. My thoughts are the shifting of moving the mattress probably dislodged the headboard and it slid to the floor. The reason I made the call for the crew to return was from the phone calls from them and from the customer. It was extremely loud and sounded quite angry and I felt remaining could be a mistake. I have been a mover in NC since 1987 and it is the first or second time I have ever told a crew to return without completing the job. I do not remember doing it prior to this event. The loudness of the situation over the phone frightened me. After speaking with [redacted] a few days later we agreed to get an email showing the damage. The next day I did respond saying we would make a plan. I spoke with him and found the load was in storage. I DO remember discussing a plan to try and get someone to fix the item which appeared to be pressed board from the photos. In all fairness it appears to be a simple repair. I explained that there was no formal valuation since we actually transported nothing on a move and of course no valuation was purchased. In any case even had we been moving the furniture from A to B the only valuation for free would have been for $.60 per pound per article. Technically the customer owes $165.00 and in my experience the repairs should be covered by that amount. I would like to resolve this by coming to a mutual agreement. My thought is both parties have some liability because the customer disassembled the bed prior to our arrival and we were moving it to the truck. I am willing to send $100.00 as a gesture of helping with my part of the culpability and lateness of the response. This means Advance Moving & Storage is contributing $265.00 for the cost of repair to the bed since that includes the total of the labor and $100.00. My wishes are this be accepted in the spirit it is offered. I wish them well in their new city and home and will be available if needed and will respond and will await your reply. Thank you. [redacted] Consumer Response /[redacted]/Thank you for your response. I apologize for the delay but $100 will not cover the charges for the repair to my bed. My bedroom set was an Ashley furniture bedroom set that cost a significant amount of money. I believe this company feels my husband and I only want money. In reality, we would just like our bed repaired. I am sorry that a resolution could not be reached. Please focus your efforts on better customer service. We were a former customer with a wonderful experience with our previous move. I deeply regret our decision to utilize your declining service on last summer. Yelling at a customer should never be condoned and leaving in the middle of a job was extremely unprofessional. Your customers are who make you sustainable.Final Business Response /[redacted]/Advance Moving & Storage has contributed $265.00 for the cost of repair to the bed since that includes the total of the labor and $100.00 that was mailed to the customer on January 27th. What else would make this customer happy? Have they been using the bed? Is the bed in storage or in the customer's home? My wishes are this be accepted as resolved.

We have used Advance Moving twice now and the first went fine. Recently, we called again hoping they could complete another job for us. The movers who showed up were fairly quick about loading the Uhaul. We were busy loading things into our own cars and did not actually see how they loaded the trailer. We attached it and left not thinking anything of it. When we arrived at our destination many items were placed awkardly including a large coffee table they had flipped on it's side. No furniture pads were used on anything. I had personally bubble wrapped many items. The coffee table was horribly scratched and chunks were torn away from it. Other items were damaged but we had told the movers that we did not really care about anything but the bedsets and the coffee table. The coffee table was one that allowed you to open the top and due to them laying it on it's side it had sprung open. We called to try to resolve the issue but they acted as if nothing could be done.
