Advanced Construction Services dba Advanced Waterproofing & Foundation Repairs Reviews (1)

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2014/08/08) */
I met with Mr*** 1/20/to evaluate basement water intrusion issues and provide an estimate for repairsApproximately 75% of the basement has finished walls (i.eframe, sheet rock, etc.) where the block foundation walls are not
visible and finished flooring, mostly laminateDuring the meeting I asked a series of questions (e.gWhere do you see water, have you seen water in other areas, when do you see it, etc.)to aid in my recommendation for repairI also explained to Mr*** that homes built during this time period were not built with waterproofing and/or drain tile systems to protect against water intrusion and that the entire basement foundation has the potential for future/additional leaksAnd that the only way to guarantee no future water intrusion issues from other areas would be to remove the finished walls to expose the block foundation and remove the flooring to allow the installation of the drain tile system along the entire perimeter foundation wallMr*** reiterated that the only area that he has ever seen water was along the center wall and we agreed that it made sense to concentrate the repair in that areaWe discussed this strategy again in the email that Mr*** references in his complaint where I state, "That is the only area where you are seeing water now, so it makes good sense to concentrate on that area as opposed to the entire basementDoing this one stretch of tile will certainly prevent the water from coming up along the footing as it has been and will not cause the water to migrate elsewhere"I also explained in that same email, that if water intrusion presented in other areas in the future that it would be possible to connect to this partial system
When Mr*** called the office in June to report water in the basement in the same area where our repair was completed I sent one our project foreman over to evaluate the situationGiven the amount of rain we were having my initial assumption was that the sump pump may not be functioning properlyMy foreman observed water leaking in at the rear foundation wall, running over the concrete floor, and settling into a puddle at the center wallI contacted Mr*** to explain that our system was functioning, but the water was coming from a different portion of the foundation and that this would not be a warranty issueAt that time I offered to extend the drain tile system to include the rear foundation wall
I would like to call attention to my statement that is clearly posted on the estimate and paperwork provided to Mr*** prior to contracting the repairs: "The objective of installing a drain tile along the center footing support is to interrupt the water that appears to be rising from beneath the floor along this footing and drain it to the new sump basketWarranty applies to area where drain tile system is installed only"
Mr*** claims that my diagnosis was based solely on a hunch, or his unprofessional opinion and that is not the caseLike any other diagnostician, my diagnosis is based on symptoms, experience, knowledge of the subject matter, and the information that the property owner provides
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2014/08/08) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As this response acknowledges, the $drain tile installation was pointlessAs this response also acknowledges, the diagnosis based on "symptoms, experience, knowledge of the subject matter, and the information (provided by the homeowner)" was incorrectThe back wall where Advanced Waterproofing is now claiming is the source of the water has never been finished as this response suggests and therefore, should not have interfered with the diagnosisThe repeat references to the homeowner not wanting to complete the entire basement actually applies to a recently finished bedroom that is not within close proximity to the area where the drain tile was installedThe back wall, where the water is evidently entering, is within feet of the area where the drain tile was installedBased on my initial conversation with the sales representative, I was under the impression that the drain tile WOULD be installed along this wallAfter it was confirmed that a pointless repair had been completed, Advanced Waterproofing did not "offer" to install drain tile in the area now diagnosed as the source of the waterRather, I was informed that this area could be completed at a cost of thousands of dollars more
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 15, 2014/08/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I will not be responding to the insulting comments made
The water that entered in June was observed in the same spot as all times prior; this was fully described to the business at the time of the initial inspection
Could the business be more specific as to their offer regarding extending the repair at a discounted price?
Final Business Response /* (4000, 17, 2014/09/11) */
We will be willing to offer a 15% discount for any future work performed
