I am very sorry that dust entered the homeowner's basement as a result of our repair. After speaking with our salesperson, office staff, and job foreman, I would like to clarify a few points mentioned in the complaint.
1. Our estimate did...

clearly state that "Owner/agent must be present at time of repairs to monitor possible dust intrusion through the foundation." This is standard when we are void filling beneath a front stoop, because we have no way of knowing the construction in this area. I will be happy to provide a copy of the estimate, if needed.
2. Our foreman thought homeowner was in the basement. When he saw him in the garage, he asked him to go to the basement to check for dust.
3. When dust was discovered, he immediately stopped the repair, and deducted the cost ($350) off the invoice. Homeowner wrote us a check for the sidewalk repair, which we completed first.
4. The homeowner called our salesperson to ask about how best to remove the dust. The salesperson explained that a rag and dusting spray should do the trick, and at no time did he suggest that a "contamination" cleaning crew was necessary.
5. According to our salesperson, the homeowner never asked for us to dust his basement; nor did he ask for any further price reduction or refund.
6. Our repairs were completed last October, and this complaint is dated 8/11/15. I understand the homeowners left for the winter and may have been unable to deal with this any sooner.
Fortunately, this is a rare occurrence, but nevertheless a terrible inconvenience for the homeowner when it does happen. We would be willing to pay $350 to the homeowner to resolve this matter. We would have been willing to do this last fall when it happened, if asked. Again, our sincere apologies for your inconvenience. Please feel free to call me if you wish to discuss further.

We are satisfied with the response from Advanced Sandjacking, Inc. and talked to the owner. They are sending us a check for $350.00 to help with clean-up. They are also going to change the wording on their agreement to make it clear that the homeowner should be in the basement to check for dust intrusion. The contract now says only that the homeowner should be present. That new wording will ensure that this won't happen to someone else. We're very happy with the company's concern in this matter. They are very upset that this happened and want to make sure no future customers have our problem.
