policyIn fact, this is clearly outlined in the patient’s signed paperwork that states, “I am responsible for understanding my own insurance coverage” This was signed by *** at the time of her first appointment.Despite having laid out these guidelines very clearly, upon our office’s notification that she complained to our outside billing company, we immediately attempted to resolve the issue with the patient directlyWe called her and left her a message to call us back so that we could resolve the issueHowever, she never returned our callWe are very disappointed to hear that instead she went through the Revdex.com and did not call us back to resolve the issue.Despite the patient’s signed agreement, we highly value our patient’s satisfaction and are willing to give her the desired settlement upon confirmation that this matter will be resolved officially

We would like to resolve this matter. We have sent the desired letter to the patient and already adjusted her account to zero on August 24th.

Thank you to the Revdex.com for facilitating the resolution to this complaint and to Advanced Dermatology, Inc. for providing the requested settlement.  After attempts to resolve this matter, Advanced Dermatology, Inc.’s position was for me to communicate with the billing/collection department, and their best offer was to reduce the bill by $50.00.  On 25 July 2016, after receiving their “best offer”, I informed them that I would be submitting a complaint to the Revdex.com.  Their follow on contacts on 26 and 28 July did not address any other settlement option.  I went a step further and contacted the billing/collection department to inform them that I had submitted a Revdex.com complaint with regards to the billing issue in order for them to make a note.  It is understood that the highest standard of medical care is the top priority of every provider that is in business.  In this case it was not the medical care that was an issue; it was the internal billing procedures.  As a professional business, it is not enough to just “assist” with insurance matters; it is the business’ means of payment.  As such, it is incumbent upon said business to practice effective and consistent internal procedures for billing and collection of payment.  I am perplexed at Advanced Dermatology, Inc.’s claim that I do not understand my own insurance.  It is exactly because I am well-versed in the insurance policy that I have held, consistently, for the past twenty years that I recognized the error being made on the part of Advanced Dermatology, Inc.  I was billed for a service that was the responsibility of Advanced Dermatology, Inc. to request authorization for…and would have been fully covered by my insurance company. Once more, the insurance documentation given to and maintained by Advanced Dermatology, Inc. clearly states that, “If you need continued services after the approved dates, or if additional services are required, your health care provider listed above will need to submit another request for review.”  This request was never made by Advanced Dermatology, Inc.  The patient is not authorized or qualified to request the necessity for follow up care from the provider.  Only the provider, as the licensed medical professional, can determine if follow up care is warranted, and request that authorization from the insurance company. The agreed upon settlement is not only a matter of being “desirable”, as stated by Advanced Dermatology, Inc., it is what is right based on the aforementioned insurance procedures to request authorization for additional services.  This matter will be considered officially settled when the account balance is adjusted to zero without any negative repercussions to my credit report and upon my receipt of written documentation stating such action has been taken.
