times we provide quotes for services and do nothear back from the parties involved. [redacted] called us prior to closing to see if we could perform the quotedservices. At the time we had undertaken a large project in Salmon Id. We told her at that time we wouldnot be able to perform prior to closing. She informed us she would let the purchasers know and go fromthere. We did receive a call some time later from a gentleman presenting himself as the new owner. Heasked if we could perform the quoted services. I set a time that worked for both of our schedules. Wearrived on time and the date set and performed the services quoted. The owner’s fiancé was at theresidence and waiting for children to arrive for daycare. She let us in and we performed the quoted tasks.We used two products one to mitigate the mold, a product called MMR and the other Fosters Cleardefense. Because of the small size of the project both were in commercial spray bottles.Surfaces were treated and the affected area was wet wiped with terry cloth towels. The scope of the quotewas completely met.The invoice was for a lump sum referencing the quote. Our detail of services was provided in the originalquote. It was our impression the new owner had been provided a copy of the services to be performed bythe realtor.No requests were made to provide a cost estimate or a scope of services. It seems strange thatone would just call a contractor and say come over and do the work and not know what it is going to cost?It seems odd that if you do not know what something is going to cost that you would not ask? During ourinitial conversations with the owner’s fiancé she said that they were surprised by the cost and had notreceived a copy of the quote prior to the invoice. Yet in the statement provided they indicate they weregiven our “Free Quote” (Line 7).The issue is poor communications between the realtor and the buyer/new owner not AET and theRealtor of the owner.Our quotes are generated on small projects with a 4-hour minimum and the material costs. Ourquotes are provided free of charge. However, we have developed a minimum fee (4HRs) on all projectsno matter the size to allow us to recapture costs associated with the bidding process. When asked why wecharge a minimum of 4 hrs that was my explanation to the owner’s fiancé. We give full disclosure and didnot manipulate any fees or billing from the amount quoted. When questioned we provided honest andpolite answers. Our billing process does take about 10 days from completion before generation, reviewand distribution. I appreciate the complainant’s perspective but it is clear there is little to no understandingof basic business processes or the cost of doing business.AET performed in a workman like manner with generally accepted practices to the amount quote. Itappears the owner did have an understanding of the expected costs.I fail to see fault in the process on our part.
