Aurora Health Care has received complaint #11812070. An authorization/consent form has been sent to the patient.
Review: Although my complaint is with a health provider, it does not actually concern a health issue, but rather a financial one. I believe I am being improperly billed for an office call.I had an annual Medicare physical done on July 15, 2014. I have no complaints about it (free to me, paid by Medicare). When I arrived, I told the receptionist that I wanted nothing more done (anything that would cost me). I repeated that to the nurse, and to the doctor. I made it clear that if I said or did anything that would trigger a charge for an office call, that I be warned that it would do so. I received no such warning, and certainly did not ask any questions that would, if answered, turn my free physical into an office call.Much to my surprise, I received a bill for $70.46 for an office call. I went to the clinic, only to be told they didn't handle billing problems. I called the customer service number, and explained my problem. I was told I would get a return call within 48 hours. Never got one. Got another bill. I emailed, and was told I had been left a voice-mail; impossible, since I had my voice-mail disconnected by AT&T years ago. Explained my problem of being billed for an office call I never had. The result was yet another bill.Desired Settlement: Cancel this $70.46 bill for an office call I told them I did not want and never received anyway (the official reply was that we had "discussed other health issues").

RE: Aurora Health Care complaint [redacted]
Revdex.com,
In our previous communication we indicated that [redacted]'s account was sent for a second review of the visit that led to the disputed $70.46 charge. That review has now been completed and though Aurora's position remains that his visit was coded and billed correctly, as a one-time courtesy the office visit charge billed to [redacted] has been written off.
What that means for him is that his account now has a $0 balance and there is no payment being asked of him. In addition to this response to your organization [redacted] has also been sent a letter notifying him of the outcome as well. Since there is no balance owed there is no further action he needs to take and hopefully this matter can now be resolved. Thank you for your patience while we worked to resolve this complaint.
