Review: ASI was hired by a buyer to perform an evaluation of my septic system in advance of a real estate transaction. When they found the bolts and lids of manhole had some rust, they broke the seal on the manhole collars, removed them from the risers and performed their examination. They then failed the septic system because the collars were not attached properly to the risers (no other issues were found). In effect, they damaged the septic system to gain access and then flunked it for the damage that they caused. ASI made no effort to contact me (the owner) to ask permission to proceed prior to damaging the system even though they knew that by removing the collars from the risers, the system would be damaged.

After I received their report from the buyer, I examined the manhole covers and collars, which had been left lying on the ground, unsealed. I put some penetrating oil on the bolts and the edge of the covers, removed the bolts, tapped lightly with a hammer and was able to remove the covers from the collars in only a few minutes. The fact that I was able to remove the covers from the manhole collars in only a few minutes raises significant questions about the competency of this company. Furthermore, when I complained that the company had damaged our system, they claimed incorrectly that the manhole collars were not properly attached to the risers prior to their inspection, which raises significant questions about their honesty. I would urge any homeowner involved in a real estate transaction to not allow this company on their property. They are incompetent, dishonest, and will not take responsibility for ruining your septic system.Desired Settlement: The company should take responsibility for their incompetence and dishonesty. It would be useful if they would provide compensation for the damage done to our septic system.
