Complaint: [redacted] How do I respond to this??? The man is an ego maniac His response included three pages of him singing the praises of his practice and techniques Most of this zzzzzzz response tells me that he has a lack of concern for his patient's needs and especially for me and my symptoms I don't think he can face the fact that he couldn't help me I was unable to walk any distance, maybe a block or two without help for most of the duration of his treatment, yet when you are in his office he asks on a scale of how you are feeling - while sitting quietly - I have some issues with this method of relating feelings under any circumstances I had four adjustments from 1/to 7/- looks like I held my adjustments well - he should have discontinued treatment instead of making me pay $for his program I had two surgeries within three months performed by a respected neurosurgeon, Dr Richard W***, both being very serious operations and they have given me relief I feel I was duped by DrL [redacted] I tried to be nice about it at first but now I am just getting discussed by my stupidity for being sucked in by his philosophy and treatment plan.(smoke and mirrors) It would be nice to get my $back or even half that amount, which is plenty to pay for four of his "treatments" Please help me with this matter I have attached my statement from Dr L [redacted] and also a letter I wrote to him in early October after my first surgery.Sincerely, [redacted] ***SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REDACTED BY Revdex.com***

Our response has been made as quickly as possible due to this being sent to an old business addressIt was delivered to our current address just before the Christmas holiday when our office is closed. On the first day in our office the patient fills out paperwork and watches a DVD that explains our particularly unique chiropractic technique: NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association)The patient sat and talked with me about her caseShe had a thorough physical exam to determine if she had a problem that we could help with (not everyone we exam does and we only treat patients that have a problem we feel we can help)The procedure was explained to the patient and the patient was informed as to what she should expect: a hand adjustment (no instrument adjusting is ever performed in our office) that will feel like a light touch near the tip of her earNUCCA protocol says that the skin of the patient should not be indented more than 1/16”The cost of care was discussed (the first two days are $436, after that office visits are typically $68) and the patient was asked if she would like to continue in our officeThe patient signed a Terms of Acceptance letter that specifically states, “Vertebral Subluxation: A misalignment of one or more of the vertebra in the spinal column which causes alteration of nerve function and interference to the transmission of mental impulses, resulting in a lessening of the body’s ability to express its maximum health potentialAdjustment: An adjustment is the specific application of forces to facilitate the body’s correction of vertebral subluxationOur chiropractic method of correction is by specific adjustments of the spineWe do not offer to treat any disease or condition other than the Vertebral Subluxation Regardless of what the disease is called, we do not offer to treat itNor do we offer advice regarding treatment prescribed by othersOUR ONLY PRACTICE OBJECTIVE is to eliminate the major interference to the expression of the body’s innate wisdomOUR ONLY METHOD is specific upper cervical adjusting to correct the Vertebral Subluxation.” The patient agreed she would like our helpWe took x-rays to determine what her misalignment was and what I would have to do to correct itThis first appointment lasted about hours.I then spent approximately an hour analyzing the patient’s x-rays by standard NUCCA protocol (the same protocol that I teach at international conferences to hundreds of doctors twice a year on behalf of the NUCCA organization as a credentialed instructor). When the patient returned for her second appointment, I spend approximately minutes reviewing her x-rays with her and my recommendations for her careMy recommendations were to have her come in twice a week for weeks (since it is common for patients to lose their adjustment more frequently in the beginning of care until the muscles, tendons and ligaments become accustomed to their new position), once a week for weeks (so that we can ensure she is holding her adjustments for longer durations of time) and once every other week for weeks (spreading out her visits as she continues to improve in stability) and our maintenance plan is once a monthThe nervous system is the most important system in the entire human body and we monitor the nervous system for interference, correcting a misalignment of the spine to free the nervous system of interference so that the brain and body can communicate effectively and the body can function at its optimal levelWe feel the nervous system is worth monitoring monthly since its interference leads to many health problemsWe want this care to be affordable for anyone that wishes to receive it, therefore we offer various payment plansThe patient indicated that she would like to spread the cost of her care out over the course of her care and make regular weekly paymentsThe patient agreed to her care plan as well as to attend our patient orientation class to further explain what it is we do when we are adjusting a patient, what health is, how to get healthy and once you are healthy how to maintain optimal healthThe patient attended this class on March 16, 2016.The patient was then placed on the table according to what was determined necessary on her x-rays to reduce her misalignmentThe head piece is specifically designed to use the weight of the head as a biomechanical lever to assist in the adjustment and is standard in NUCCA offices all over the worldThe specific measurements and correction vector determined from the patient’s x-rays are recorded on thepatient’s card. The adjustment itself, while not felt by most patients, requires a lot of physical effort on part of thedoctorJust as weight lifters often make noises as they are lifting weights, doctors occasionally makenoises when they adjust the patientWhen someone exerts an extreme amount of force it is common tohave their face turn redIn regards to the adjustment style, the doctors’ feet are placed in an extremelyspecific position in relation to the patient in order to deliver a specific adjustment, it is based on an anglecalculation. The practice of NUCCA chiropractic care is far from a scamThousands of patients around the world havebenefited from the NUCCA correction even if this patient doesn’t understand its benefitNUCCA is not anew technique, beginning its development in the early 1940’sBy it was a national organizationBya research branch to scientifically exam the results of the NUCCA spinal correction was established:NUCCRA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research Association) and is now called UCRF (UpperCervical Research Foundation)The research of the upper cervical spine and how NUCCA benefits thehuman body is available for public view online at: www.ucrf.orgNUCCA has also been viewed on populartelevision shows such as ABC news, the Discovery Channel, and Good Morning America as they reportedon NUCCA clinical research and individual patient storiesToday, NUCCA doctors are found internationally.NUCCA offers a certification process for its doctors to constantly challenge themselves to improve theirskills: there are currently Board Certified NUCCA doctors in the worldI am proud to say that I am oneof them and serve on the NUCCA Board of Directors as well. The patient was told exactly what to expect and never in our office do we promise or guarantee a relief ofsymptomsWe DO NOT treat symptomsWe treat the upper cervical subluxationShe watched a DVD thatdetailed what would occur during her correctionShe chose to proceed with care, both verbally and bywritten documentationAll costs were explained to her before she had the tests and exams performed andshe consentedShe agreed and signed for the weekly payment plan of $for weeksWe providedexactly what we do for every patient and all aspects of her care were explained in advanceIf NUCCAspinal corrective care was not what she was looking for, she was free to look for another alternative carefor her needs. While we do not treat symptoms, on each visit patients do fill out a general health survey with patientsself-reporting changes they have noticed since beginning careShe began care on 3/4/By5/17/she reported a 50% decrease in her symptoms overallThis is in sharp contrast to her claimthat “he absolutely did not help me in any way (maybe hurting me)”It is interesting that these claims ofnot helping or potentially hurting have only occurred after that patient was told that her bill would be sentto collections if not paid.We mailed to her current address a letter regarding her current balance of $on August 16, 2016.We gave her the option of making two payments of $if that was easier for herA second letter wasmailed on September 27, stating the same thingOn October 3, 2016, our office received a letterfrom her terminating her NUCCA care based on the recommendations from her other doctorsAnotherletter was mailed on October 10, 2016, with a statement including all the finances and current balance of$and a copy of the financial care plan she had signedOn November 15, 2016, she was mailed aletter that informed her we would send her past due balance to collectionsShe chose to disregard allnotices and did not contact the officeWe find it rather strange that four days before it would go tocollections, she is now making a complaint
