This email is being sent in response to the above referenced complaint ID. The complaint was sent in by *** ***o, a former tenant at our rental property located at *** S *** St in ***, Indiana. We have communicated via email and phone with ***, as well as his
roommates *** *** and *** ***, regarding their concerns. Attached to this email are the emails sent to *** *** and *** *** regarding their concerns with the deposit. We do a move in and move out inspection at every rental property and make any deductions to the security deposit based upon the damages to the house or condition at move in versus move out. As stated in the emails, deductions are made per the lease signed by the tenants. The house was not left in “good repair” as stated in the Indiana code. Their attempt to pass on regular expenses which we are not responsible for is unethical and illegal. I have seen this before with other landlords taking advantage of college students due to their lack of knowledge in regards to the law. Luckily I have done my research and hope things are settled correctly.
