I think we were scammed. I have hesitated to write a review on this company (we had work done by them a year ago) because I do not like to leave unsatisfactory reviews about companies but prefer to be silent. However, in this case, I have been bothered by what happened to us that I feel I need to say something. I do work for a local real estate company and found out after the fact, in talking to several real estate agents, they would not have recommended this company. They gave us a bid - verbal - to do piers along the front of the home because of sinking/settling issues. We were given a price of $5500 which was great. Well, after a day and a half or so of them digging and working, I get a call from the guy onsite saying there was a problem and I need to stop by the home as he wanted me to see what he was talking about. Well, After trying to get him to just tell me on the phone, I go home and he tells me they have been digging , and still have not reached the bottom of the foundation so, it's going to cost an additional $3250. Well, I didn';t know what to do because the work had already been started so I said ok - without thinking about the fact that -0 how could they know how much additional cost would be needed when they hadn't hit the bottom yt, and how how did the additional $3250 pencil out - what was the breakdown between material and labor? Anyway, stupid me for not insisting on details of how they arrived at the additional $. We gave the go ahead to finish the job for the new total of $8750. But, Dean said they would include (verbally) the jacking up of the porch. Shame on me for not getting written estimates until the final invoice was provided (after they had also insisted on us signing off on the loan for approval so they could get their money before the work was done.
I would not recommend these guys PERIOD and should have asked agents I work with first. I havre also noticed after we had the work done, people did have unfavorable comments/experiences with this company as well, but today I see only the 100% perfect reviews on their website. I find this very interesting. What good is it to provide a space for customers to review if you are going to control what people see and have to be dishonest because you are not a straight up company. Pretty sad.
To clarify this the proposal was for $5300 and this was the beginning of the year so pier season was just beginning. So we did
not have much history from the previous year on depths all proposals include 25 feet of depth. your depth reached 80 feet,
The job foreman had you come out so it would not look like we were not trying to (scam) you. 2 piers were completed so we
had knowledge of how deep we were to produce the added costs. We also went over how we arrived at that amount
and would of never continued if you would not of agreed. When we add extra costs no labor costs is involved materials only that is why it states discounted price.
It is an unfortunate situation that this does come up and seems really bad but Advanced Systems intentions were to make sure your home was stable and we don't tolerate any abuse to this.
The front porch : I apologize if there was miscommunication with the porch, the invoice clearly states that the porch for $800 is
not included in the amount.
My foreman did mention he did speak with the customer about the mudjacking but elected not to go forward with it.
But I would be more then happy to mudjack it for free just let me know

zI did ask the guy for details on additional material needed (trying to find justification for the additional $3450 when he told me they were still digging - had not reached bottom. So, how did they know they would need $3450? I worked construction accounting for 14 years and am ashamed of myself for not insisting getting these things in writing - this is a sloppy way of doing business - no written change order - just a huge # thrown out there to be sure they were covered - and conveniently no adjustment if they didn't need all that extra money. I work for a real estate company and in talking to agents, I now know I should have checked with them on recommendations.
I wonder if I paid for materials used for another job :(
