Dear [redacted],
Advanced Test Equipment Corporation has researched Mr. [redacted] complaint. The information
collected through the...
research included e-mails; voice recorded phone calls, lab verification
results and interviews with the employees involved. Advanced Test Equipment focuses on
customer satisfaction and quality and it is unfortunate Mr. [redacted] had a bad experience.
Mr. [redacted] chose to rent the equipment from Advanced Test Equipment because another
supplier was not able to provide calibrated equipment. This was the factor for the rental,
not price. Advanced Test Equipment’s terms and conditions state, if the customer returns
equipment due to the equipment failing in the field or as Mr. [redacted] refers “significantly off”
and the lab technicians cannot find any issues with the equipment; the customer is liable
for the rental. The equipment was returned and inspected by the lab technician. The lab
technician did not find any issues with the equipment and could not repeat the problem. No
repairs were necessary and the equipment operated as it should. Advanced Test Equipment
did not have the same unit in stock to send a replacement and Mr. [redacted] did not want to pay
any additional costs for a substitution. Therefore, a replacement unit was not shipped to Mr.
[redacted].
Mr. [redacted] clearly expressed how upset he was and the staff remained professional in their
responses. Based on Advanced Test Equipment’s terms and conditions, which are agreed by
the customer at the time the rental order is submitted, the rental fees are valid. As a customer
service courtesy, Mr. [redacted]’s Sales Account Manager gave a credit in the amount of $399 to
his account.
In close, the correspondence and documentation gathered, in regard to this complaint,
Advanced Test Equipment remained professional and Mr. [redacted] received a credit.
Respectfully,

Review: This complaint is with the poor sales tactics as well as selling faulty equipment. At first we requested a quote, they were very high. After selecting another supplier, we received a call inquiring. They then dropped their price to get the business. Due to concerns about delivery with the other, we decided to risk going with ATE.
After receiving and using the equipment, it was determined by multiple other sources and similar equipment that the Spectrum Analyzer from ATE was significantly off. Two other Spectrum Analyzers were used to compare.
After requesting an RMA they stated we would have to pay for both units and the shipping. After agreeing to pay for the shipping, they then stated there were no units available to replace the Spectrum Analyzer. So they took the 1 month rental fee for a non-operable unit.
[redacted] Alcala the quality manager was very rude and was determined to make things difficult. He refused to ship out a unit to replace the broken unit. It was reserved by [redacted], but [redacted] chose not to send it for some reason.Desired Settlement: Refund for the monthly rent
