Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me Sincerely, Keith Prives

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:While Advantage Air has responded to every call regarding the issue of condensation, their response has not always been prompt, no action has been taken that has resolved the problem and they have been defiant in accepting responsibility for their installation of improper equipmentFurthermore this issue has nothing to do with maintaining set point temperatures as outlined by the StLouis County mechanical code. Just after the last visit from *** and *** the drywall that covers the supply duct work in the finished basement room has collapsed due to being saturated with water from condensation on the duct workI have since removed a large portion of that drywall to inspect the extent of the damageAll of the joists are covered in condensation and black mold and by all indications I will have to remove all the drywall ceiling in the finished basementEven worse I believe I will have to do the same in the garage and even remove/replace all the duct work and insulation in the garage and subfloor directly above the saturated supply ductThe affects of the damage will be costly, take significant time, effort and resources which I will have to deal with and manage until the damage is repaired. The manufacture rep from *** who came to inspect the unit this year did NOT preform a thorough inspection of the unit and did NOT do any diagnostic testing to determine if the equipment was sized properly and working correctlyHe was stating the unit was functioning properly from the second he arrived without doing anything to make that determinationThe same can be said for the third party energy auditor and previous manufacturers rep who came last yearThe assessment by the manufacturers reps seemed to have been predetermined upon arrival. I have spoke with numerous other hvac companies all of which have said the equipment is not properly sized for the spaceI also consulted with another *** dealer who told me the unit was improperly sized and not installed correctlyAdditionally the ac refrigerant lines are not properly sized which will not allow the the unit to function at its optimum capability.Michelle Jones stated to both my father and I she was recommending an oversized furnace because she thought it would be the best equipment for the homeIt isn’tI trusted your judgment as professionals to make an accurate decision on equipment selection The previous a/c and furnace did not cause the duct work to have condensation on it, the house was totally dry all of the timePer your Revdex.com response - I am NOT having condensation issues due to the construction of the homeI’m having condensation issues due to an inadequate system being put inAdvantage Air installed a unit that isn’t suitable for the existing home and are telling me I need to make significant alterations to the house to provide ideal working conditions for unit. Since installation I have taken several steps to mitigate the damage being caused to the homeInsulating the crawl space Insulating the knee wall in the attic Insulating the attic access doorInsulating the attic area directly above the hallway corridorRemoving the deck to make sure their is no air infiltration around the furnace areaTaping the front doors to eliminate air infiltration until they can be replacedInsulating the top of the supply duct going into the garageRemoved the return air vent grills for increased airflowIt is not acceptable that I will need to spend thousands of dollars and make significant alterations to the house to provide ideal working conditions for the unit when there is no guarantee that it will function properly if those conditions are metThe recommendations from the energy auditor seem excessive, cost prohibitive, unreasonable and are not the cause of the problem (per the other hvac professionals I have consulted)I have had a conversation with a second energy auditor and he told me the assessment from *** *** are not the cause of the problem and his assessment of the situation is bias in favor of Advantage Air. I have evidence to believe that the unit is oversized and defectiveWhen I remove the stack vent from the furnace the air temperature coming out of the supply is not as cold and the condensation on the supply ducts is lessenedIt is my belief that the major infiltration of air is negative pressure air coming in from the stack vent and getting into the system which is also not allowing the hot water heater to vent properly. This is an email I sent to *** on 9/3/15Hello, This is *** ***, *** *** *** *** *** ** *** I had a new ac / furnace installed in june and have been having some issues with humidity and condensation on duct work and wallsI had a crew out about days ago (along w/ a *** rep) to make some adjustmentsThe adjustments did make some minor incremental improvements to the inside air quality when temp was in the low 70’s - low 80’s, but as soon as the temp got hot the condensation returnedTo keep the lower basement room cool I had to close down upstairs vents to lower temp and humidity in the basement room where the furnace is, prior to the new unit this was always the coolest room and I never had issues with condensation on duct work. Attached were images This is the response from ***@advantageairllc.com 9/3/- “I apologize for the issues you are having with your new system we installedI want to assure you we will get the problem corrected, whether it's this year or next year, at no cost to you. Thanks for your patience and communication.”The problem has not been corrected and since that time the damage from condensation and mold has gotten considerably worse. Under the circumstance I feel I’ve been considerate and lenient, just asking for the issue to be fixedThis doesn’t seem unreasonableI haven’t been comfortable in my home for over a year, this has consumed a great deal of my time and the stress of dealing with this issue has been overwhelmingFurthermore the presence of mold in the house is a severe ***ger to my healthPlease keep in mind I have referred business to you and have refrained from making any ratings or comments on any web / social media sites In conclusion:The equipment is not sized properly. The unit was not installed properly. Most importantly, you haven’t corrected the problem when you repeatedly said it would be.Your negligence in equipment selection and installation makes you liable and your inability to solve the problem in a timely manner has caused extensive damage to the homeYou could have fixed this last year and minimized the damage. To reiterate, you haven’t corrected the problem. Here’s how I suggest we resolve thisA full refund of $7,071.00, in cash, within hours acceptance of the termsI will have the new installer contact you to discuss the hand off of your equipment, which they will unhook and put in the garage for you to pick up the day of the new unit installYou pay 100% of the cost to repair the house and for mold remediationYou can do this via you insurance or out of your pocketIn exchange I will relieve you of all future liability, agree not to litigate or make any ratings or comments on any web / social media websites or any other public comments verbally or in writing regarding our interaction
Sincerely,

As we have offered several times in the past, we are offering once again to refund Mr*** system 100% and remove it. We will bring a cash refund the day we uninstall the equipment from his home. We will not refund his money and allow him to keep the equipment in his home. We also will not allow another contractor to remove the equipment. We will uninstall all the equipment we previously installed, from the home and remove it from his property. We cannot offer a refund without the equipment or if another contractor has removed itMr*** is welcome to have another contractor witness us removing the equipmentThis offer is valid until 09/15/2016. This process has gone on far too long considering we have offered many times to refund his money. We would like for both parties to move on from this situation as quickly as possible. As stated in the past if there is negative reviews or comments about us written or otherwise we will take immediate legal action

The system installed in Mr*** home is adequate to maintain design set point temperatures as outlined by the StLouis County mechanical codeAdvantage Air has responded to every call from the homeowner regarding the condensation issueWe have had multiple manufacturer engineers to the
residence to determine if the equipment was not performing at its specificationsEach time the system has been determined to be operating efficiently and with in manufacturer specificationsAdvantage Air recently brought in a third party energy auditor at our own expense to find a cause for the problemThe auditor identified multiple problems with air infiltration that was causing the issues Mr*** is experiencing and the auditor offered several solutions to the homeowner as well as a company that specializes in these types of repairsAdvantage Air fulfilled our agreement with the home owner and went to extraordinary steps to help him identify the root cause of his problemsWe will be happy to remove the equipment and give a full refund to Mr*** but we are not liable for the condensation issues due to the construction of his home

This is extortion. We have promised to remove the equipment and refund 100% of Mr.*** money. The issues in his house are not our fault. We have brought in 3rd party BPI certified energy auditor to show Mr*** where his issues are. He has given us nor the Revdex.com any proof of his accusations.Any writing or statements about our company online or otherwise will cause immediate legal action.
