Advantage Home Builders Reviews (%countItem)

On Sept. 21, 2018, we closed on a brand new home, built by Advantage Home Builders. We paid $5400.00 for a stained hardwood staircase. We noticed the top flight of steps were a lighter stain color than the bottom flight of steps, there were footprints in the polyurethane, and the wood piece under the spindles was painted white, instead of stained per contract. There were multiple attempts to contact Advantage Home through their warranty person, ***. Sometimes, there was no response from him. On October 15th, 2018, *** from Advantage Home Builders came to our house and worked on the staircase. After examining the stairs, they were in worse condition than the original condition. Dust had dried in the stain on the rails and steps, and covered in polyurethane. Parts of the steps did not have any polyurethane, and some had too much stain. There are streaks and nails are exposed. We advised Advantage Homes of these new issues, and their only response was to send *** back for the third time. We gave him a second chance, and it is evident, he is not capable. It has been an ongoing issue for months, and very inconvenient and a strain on us. We obtained a professional estimate on the cost to repair the staircase from ***, for $3480.00. They stated Advantage Home Builders should repair the staircase. On April 9, 2019, we sent a certified letter to Advantage Home Builders and asked them to refund our $5400.00, or pay $3680.00 to have it professional repaired. We requested a response in writing from them within two weeks. I did receive a text from their warranty person stating they could only send *** back in for the third time. It is evident that *** is not capable of repairing the staircase to brand new condition. This issue has been ongoing for months.

The owner paid $5400 for the entire staircase including the treads, railing material, labor to install and painting of entire system.

We have offer to send our painter who originally painted the home to repair the stain and paint on the stair system but the owner refuses to allow them to do so. Of course their painter wants twice as much to redo the stair painting and stain work as what it should be.

We are more than happy to have our guys repair the stairs as needed.

Thanks

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: We did allow 'their guy' to come into our home to repair the staircase. The staircase is now worse than the first attempt. So their guy has tried twice, and has not been able to do the job correctly. We want our stairs to look like stairs that we paid $5400.00 for. They do not resemble that at all. There is a lot of work required to correct the steps. The entire staircase must be stripped and re-stained. There are many issues with the steps, and it requires a lot of work. We shouldn't have to be dealing with this with a brand new home. Advantage Homes should take pride with their brand, and make this right.

Regards

I purchased a home from Advantage homes on 1 Feb 2019 , The final walk through several discrepancies needed to be addressed within 90 days and have not, back screen door, oven vent hood, the wire racks in my closets were not mounted to any studs or were proper anchors put in to support the weight of basic clothes and the list could go on and on. However, the major issue I need addresses asap is that it is raining in my home through the front loft window which does not open or close, I called the warranty rep the first time I had the problem which was on April 19th and still till this day the issue has not been addressed. Yesterday 05/05/2019 if I did not have a shop vac I don,t know how much water would have saturated my home, I have concerns about mold because who knows how long this problem has been going on prior to me occupying this new home. I have left messages for the owner /president of the company who has yet to respond. I will provided video of the rain entering my home upon request. The amount of days I have had to miss work is crazy, as a retired military veteran and purple heat recipient I hope no one has to endure this type stress in a new home.

I met with Mr. at his home a few weeks ago. He only pointed out to me his range hood needed to be adjusted and the end panel of his island cabinet needed to be renailed, he said it was something that he had just found. Those were the only 2 things that he pointed out to me at that time. The range hood was something that was special ordered after they had closed and was installed weeks after the closing once it came in. We agreed on how to fix his complaint while I was at the house with him. He went on praising our employee who had been working on his issues after closing so I was not aware of anything else. The windowed leaked over a weekend and ended up being a manufacturer issue that was repaired the same week he let us know about it.

As far as I know everything has been resolved.

Thanks,

My husband and I bought the model home from Advantage Home Builders in August of 2015 after I signed for a teaching position at *** nearby. We had saved money all our lives and purchased this house with cash. We immediately saw cracks in the stucco and heard creaks in the floor upstairs. We told ***, who represented the business and sold us the house, but he told us that was normal and gave us paint and told my husband to just paint over the cracks. The stucco cracks have become numerous and in places I cannot reach. I had a stucco specialist come to my home yesterday, and he shook his head and told me that the stucco had not been installed properly. He told me the cracks would get bigger and water would seep in and cause structure damage. I called thee warranty number and have not heard anything back. The stucco specialist would not take the job after his free inspection, and told me to call the warranty number to tell them they must make this damage right. He told me to get a lawyer if I had to and sue them for such bad construction. The warranty lady told me NOT to get an inspection done, and so I have been very depressed about being duped over the purchase of this home. Right after I moved in the plumbing backed up in one bathroom, which they fixed, and now the floors sound like the wood is cracking and cracks are appearing in my broom wall upstairs! Help! My husband died of pancreatic cancer that he did not know he had in January of 2016. I am facing this alone an feeling very wronged by this company. *** never did get back to me during the whole year of 2017, changed his phone number as soon as we moved in, and he and his inspector kept complaining of illness and never did get back with us about the cracking stucco.

We apologize, as we were unaware of the issues. Our Warranty Manager, *** has met with Mrs.l on Thursday last week. We have the stucco contractor going to inspect the work in the next couple of days. We will make repairs as needed.
