ADVANTAGE RENT-A-CAR

My husband, [redacted], and I rented a from Advantage Car Rental in Fort Lauderdale, FL 07/22/13 - 07/27/13. The rental agreement for 4 days was 86.30 per day. We kept the car an additional day, which charges should have been 86.30 for the additional day. We were charged the amount of $258.90 for 1 extra day. I have phoned the agency and NO ONE has called me back. I did call the customer relations number and was told a "ticket" with my complaint had been filed, however, no follow up has taken place. We were doubled charged completely for a rental for one day and are indeed in line for a refund. I was told that the mnager's name at the location is "Tihere." The manager is ALWAYS not available when you call.

While traveling to San Antonio, TX to attend my son's graduation from Basic Military Training for the United States Air Force, I had a blow out in the tire that the rental car company gave me. They had asked me to inspect the body of the car before leaving the lot, but they did not state that I should also check the tires. The customer service I received was apalling! It started with the girl at the gate as we were leaving the lot, to the counter person who waited on me while I was exchanging the car. They stated that their Fleet Manager would be contacting me on Monday to ask questions regarding the blow out. This never happend. I received an email stating that I would be responsible for the tire. There was no signature or contact information on the email for me to respond to or contact to discuss their decision. The car that they had originally given to me, was dented and scratched and had not been taken very well care of. If I had damaged the car, yes I feel that it would be my responsibility to fix or correct it, but when a tire blows on a 2012 car with only 30,000 miles on it blows out on it, I do not feel that I should be responsible for it. I feel it is their responsibility to insure that they are renting reliable cars to the consumers.

My wife & I rented a car from this company & as we were driving up the road the inner front fender on the passenger side fell out from under the car! It just so happened that at the time we were only a couple of miles from the rental agency so we took the car, pieces of inner fender & all, back to them. The lady at the desk apologized several times & got us a different car to drive. After we got back home to [redacted], a company named [redacted]. started dunning us for money to repair the car that had fallen apart! We feel if anything THEY owe US for having to take time out of our vacation to deal with this due to their lack of inspecting & maintaining their car. We also feel it would be a good idea for a state agency to inspect all of Advantages cars as they obviously are not doing so themselves. Quite frankly we are flabbergasted this company would expect us to pay for repairs to a car that literally fell apart going up the road, especially when said car had under 17,000 miles on it & had to be under warranty. It is obvious this company is trying to collect double, once from us & once from the warranty, & needs to be closely scrutinized for how many people they've done this to & gotten away with it. We have attached a copy of the estimate they sent us on page 2 of which we underlined where it says customer responsibility is $0.
