Called Advantage Plumbing and Sean quoted me 120.00 to unclog washer drain. Josh B came out and attempted to snake the line. He said it could not be snaked because of a drum trap. He stated he would charge me 100.00 today if I hired them to replace the drum trap. He said he would have Sean call me to give a quote on the replacement. Sean never called. I called him several times and left messages. He hung up on me one time. Obviously they did not want to do the job. The invoice stated Josh was able to get the line to drain slowly. It was draining slowly before he came and the attempt at snaking did nothing due to the drum trap. I paid 100.00 for nothing and they refused to get back to me for an estimate. It's unfortunate advantage was taken on an elderly woman.

Overcharged by $115.00 for work qouted.
Came out nd rootered sewer line for $185.00. Quoted anothet $185.00 to repair drain line and rooter kitchen sink. *** quoted. The next day, another plumber showed up and did the repair. Then he told me it would be $300.00. Of course *** (owner) was no were to be found. Since the 2nd plumber had already did the work, I paid him the $300.00. He DID NOT tell me a price til after he completed the work, I explained what *** quoted
He more or less said too bad and "*** never would have wuoted that price." I have been ripped off for $115.00. I am 66 years old, disabled and living on Social Security. $115.00 is a months worth of groceries. I want a refund for the overcharge the technician charged me. The work was done fine but, I have been ripped off by these guys. Of course *** never called to ecplain and I feel like I had a gun put to my head. I should have called the police but didn't need anymore if a confrontation then what already took place. It was sure convenient that *** nade himself unavailable. I'm a senior on limited income and they ripped me off. *** inspected the jib before he gave me rhe price and, if he screwed up, that's not my problem. On top of that, the replacement plumber never confirmed the price BEFORE he started the work. What a bunch of crooks.

On 12-26-19 Mr. Kowal called into our office to schedule an appointment for a sanitary service line cleaning. We Scheduled with Mr. Kowal for 12-27 @ 9:30-10:30 Am.
At this time he was quoted $120 for a main line cleaning from an outside clean out up to 100' of pipe. Mr Kowal agreed to the terms and scheduled the appointment. Mr. Kowal even complemented us on our rates as he was quoted $175 for the same service from a different contractor.
On 12-27-19 *** arrived on site @ 9:30 am with a phone call prior to arrival to let Mr. Kowal know he was in route.
Once on site *** cleared the sewer from the exterior clean out on the front of the house, He ran 100' to the city tap and cleared a large root ball from the line. The service line then opened up and toilets and tubs started to flow from the property once again. At this time *** asked Mr. Kowal to go inside and run water down the drain at all his fixtures in the home to make sure the sewer was not going to back up again.
Mr Kowal came back outside after turning on his fixtures and informed *** that everything in the home was working except the Kitchen Sink & laundry drains were still holding water and backed up.
*** informed Mr. Kowal that these drain were plumbed on a 2" interior drain line and would need to be snaked with a smaller cable auger and would be an additional fee to do so.
Mr, Kowal agreed to the terms and informed *** that he had to get it done and to please fix the problem inside as well .
After pulling the mainline cable from the service line, *** went inside and attempted to clear the 2" drain line from inside the laundry room, from laundry drain stand pipe. *** ran another cable auger approx 25' but was unable to reach the clog from the laundry drain.
He then went under neath the kitchen sink compartment and found poorly installed plumbing under the sink and multiple leaks dripping on to the cabinet. It was apparent the leak had been going on for some time. *** informed Mr. Kowal of the active leak which he was told that Mr. Kowal's friend had worked on it previously and had in fact been leaking before ***'s arrival. *** drained the sink and attempted to clear the line again from the kitchen sink drain but was unsuccessful due to the configuration of his *** system under his sink. *** informed Mr. Kowal that we would have to return the following business day to re plumb a portion of the kitchen sink *** system and then snake the drain again after the repair had been made .

Mr Kowal was charged $120 for his mainline and an additional $65 for an additional hours labor working on the kitchen sink.

Mr. Kowal was then quoted $120 an hour plus material cost to repair the kitchen sink and additional $120 for clearing the 2" drain after the repair had been made. We estimated approx $60 material for the plumbing. He was informed the additional work would be approx $300 and we would be able to start Monday 12-30-19 @ 11:30 am. Mr Kowal agreed to terms. Confirmed appointment for 12-30-19 and paid the $185 invoice for the work completed on 12-27-19

12-30-19
Our Technician *** this time arrived on time to Mr Kowals house to complete the plumbing portion of the job.
*** re piped the kitchen sink *** system as quoted, he informed Mr. Kowal that ***, our drain technician would be coming behind him to snake the drain when he was finished .
*** charged Mr. Kowal $300 for both his and *** time as quoted .
When *** came to collect for the work Mr. Kowal then stated he thought it would only be $185 . *** called *** @ the office and informed him of what Mr. Kowal said. Mr. Kowal was informed if he did not want to pay the invoice that he was quoted for prior to the start of work, *** would remove the the material he installed and we would cancel the drain cleaning appointment. Mr. Kowal said he did not want that and agreed to pay *** $300 as agreed to on 12-27-19.
*** then left and our drain technician *** showed up and cleared the 2" kitchen sink drain. It had heavy grease and food build up in the pipe. *** left the property after clearing the drain. Mr. Kowal was sent a paid in full invoice for $300.

Mr. Kowal wrote *** a personal email stating that he felt he was over charged. *** wrote him back and went over all the pricing again with Mr. Kowal as previoulsy. He tried reaching out to Mr. Kowal by phone to discuss this further and was hung up on by Mr. Kowal

Mr. Kowal wrote *** another email back stating that he thought it was a misunderstanding and wasn't worth the aggravation he was causing both of them. " please accept my sincere apologies is what was written" amongst other things in Mr. Kowals email ( at this time we felt the issue was resolved )

We feel Mr. Kowal is trying to get out of paying for work that he has already knowingly acknowledged and scheduled. We feel the comments of not have a license is an attack on our business out of anger from Mr. Kowal
We have posted our state and PPRBD license numbers at the top for Mr. Kowals convenience

Consumer Response /(2000, 7, 2020/01/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I accept the response based on the contractors written response. I must have misunderstood what he originally explained. My suggestion is contractor submit hi quotes in wriring to avoid any future misunderstanding. I know it cobsumes extra time but, so does handing complaints from upset customers bwcayse of a misunderstanding. On the brighter side, *** and his guts are very knowledgeable and do excelent work.
