Retroactive billing rate change: [redacted] was very unprofessional with me and told me that he would bill me even more b/c he didn't like our call.After I called to inquire about speech therapy for our daughter and submitted insurance info/paperwork to allow them to verify coverage, I was told that they called [redacted] (our insurance) and verified coverage and that the therapy would be covered with a $35 per visit rate. I agreed to proceed with therapy based on this information. We were billed at the $35 rate for 3 months. I then received an additional bill indicating the rate was changing to $60 going forward. However, they billed me retroactively for a month. I emailed [redacted] and then spoke with him on the phone. I simply wanted to understand what happened and indicate a rate change going forward is not a problem, but retroactive does not seem reasonable.[redacted] was very upset from the start of the call, raising his voice, etc. By the end of the call, I felt very uncomfortable having my 3 year old daughter in his facility due to his treatment of me and notified him we could no longer use his company as this was not a positive relationship. However, my specific concern is that in this call, he told me that he "had tried to work with me, only billing me for one month retroactively, but now I'm going to bill you for more". A legitimate business should not discriminate and bill people based on how they feel about a person or because they are having a bad day. The billing should be consistent across all individuals. They made an error in telling me that the therapy would be $35 per visit and billing me at that rate for 3 months. He admitted they billed me incorrectly and at the end of the call my understanding was that he would bill me at $35 per visit and close out the account as we would not return. I just received a bill for the $60 rate retro for 3 months.The resolution needs to be that I am charged the $35 rate for September and the 1 visit in October. Business Response Mrs. [redacted] sent me a rude email stating that I had retroactive billed her an incorrect amount of $60 per visit instead of the $35 per visit her Ins. company told us her copay would be. When dealing with Ins companies we are often billing several months in the rears because of the time it takes to file the claim and the time it takes for the insurance to process the claim. Once the claim was processed, Mrs. [redacted]'s Insurance did not pay the claim like they say they would. Mrs. [redacted] signed an agreement with us stating she was responsible for any charges her Insurance company would not pay. As soon as I got the claims back from the Insurance company I billed her the correct amount of $60 instead of $35 for the prior months visits. She was rude to me on the phone and said that she would not pay and that I was being unfair to her, even though she signed a document stating she knew that she was responsible for any and all charges not covered by Insurance. I am really not interested in fighting a long fight over this. Even though I feel we are in the right, I will adjust her bill to what she feel she owes and move on. Thanks,[redacted]
