Jefferson county federal credit union is the new lien holder on my auto loan, I called and asked for the account number to set my payments up on auto pay they refused to give the account number causing my first payment to be late and affecting my credit status. this is outrageous. I work a full time position and shouldn't have to speak to anyone face to face to get an account number. When I asked how else would they identify what I'm paying they asked it will be identified by my account number or I can write my social security number on a check. This is why fraud is such an easy crime in America because of i
es like this that are allowed to work for banking corporations.
Jefferson County Federal Credit Union has procedures in place not to give out account numbers over the phone. Those procedures are put into place to protect our members from someone else calling to get their personal information claiming to be the member. We mailed you a welcome letter when you opened the account that would have included the account number on the included documents. You can use that account number to mail us a payment. If you don't have those forms, we do have to ask that you stop in a branch so we can identify you before we proceed. I agree that "fraud is such an easy crime in America". That is why we won't give out your personal information over the phone.
