Adventure Getaways Reviews (%countItem)

Adventure Getaways misleads customers by claiming to offer extraordinary discounts on travel & vacation packages, but fail to deliver on their claims.
I paid $3000. (plus $249. in dues) for a lifetime membership with Adventure Getaways because they promised fabulous discounts on travel & vacation packages. I love to travel & really hoped to be able to take one (or more) of the European vacation packages which they advertized for under $1000, inclusive of airfare & hotel. Several times, I called and tried to book such a trip. After a few tries, one of their employees told me directly that they had never offered any such deals!
One of the reasons I was willing to spend such a large sum of money on this "travel club" was that they claimed to have an A+ rating with the Revdex.com. I see now that I was mislead by their false advertising and feel foolish for having fallen for their classic "bait & switch" technique. Now I suspect that others who have been mislead by this company have felt too foolish to complain. They do offer some small savings on travel, but nothing that is worth anything near the cost of their membership. People need to know that Adventure Getaways doesn't have anything special to offer to justify the cost of joining their travel "club."
I have tried contacting this company by phone and then by letter, which I will attach below. I have received no response to my letter.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund of the money ($3249.) I have paid to Adventure Getaways.

We are not quite sure where our member came up with pricing for under $1,000 for an Italy trip. We do offer Great discounts at wholesale; however, In our presentation we have an Italy trip listed for $1,999.00/pp. We do not mislead our customers in any way or intentionally and will not present any trip that is not fulfillable by the travel agency. This member has signed up in June of 2018 since then requested 10 trips booked 2 with us being hotel stays one in July of 2018 and the other August of 2018. Only 1 quote for Europe was requested to the travel agency which was not the exact trip we offered in our presentation. The last quote that was requested to the travel agency was on October 24, 2019; nothing since then. Not one phone call was placed to our quality control department regarding the quotes given in 2018 or 2019 informing us of their dissatisfaction of the savings from the quotes given. We did not receive a call until 2 years after they joined, on June 29, 2020. If a call was received back when the quotes were given, we would've absolutely insured that any concern by the customer would've been addressed and handled immediately. We Do Not "Bait & Switch" as we pride ourselves with having integrity and ensuring all of our customers, members or not are happy! We can't address what we are unaware of!
We will be more than happy to fulfill the Italy trip that was presented to our member in their presentation of $1,999/pp which includes airfare. Most of the trips quoted were not overly expensive trips and were to the caribbean, we cannot give the trips away for free; however, their savings offered were over $500pp on most if not all these trips quoted. We apologize for any misunderstandings and would like this member to contact the travel agency with another quote and I will oversee and verify that the savings were significant and the member is happy!

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The Adventure Getaways Company claims they "are not quite sure where our member came up with pricing for under $1,000 for an Italy trip"but of course, it came from their presentation, which convinced me to join their travel club. As I said in my letter, what they claimed to offer were all inclusive (airfare & hotel) trips to Europe at that price. I knew I had been deceived when their representative told me that they had never offered any trips at such a great price. This is exactly the definition of "bait & switch", and for Adventure Getaways to claim otherwise is just plain dishonest.

Now they want to offer a trip to Italy for just under $2000, and state that "the savings offered were over $500pp on most if not all these trips." But therein lies the problemif I had known upfront that they offered modest savings on travel, I would never have paid $3000 dollars, plus a $249 yearly fee, to join their travel club, because I know that there are great options out there for travel, without paying any money upfront. A trip with wonderful companies like Rick Steves or Rabbies (UK) costs very little more than $2000, with no upfront cost. In the absence of their deceptive advertising, I would never have paid to join, and I would advise anyone else considering it to avoid this company. Knowing that they were not straightforward in their advertising when I joined their club, I wouldn't trust that the trips they offer are as represented either.

My husband and I are in our sixties, and I believe most of the audience were of a similar age, which suggests to me that Adventure Getaways may target seniors. I may be wrong about this, of course; it may just have been that the audience for our particular presentation was an older one. Regardless of age, please, potential buyers beware. You're better of avoiding this company and instead using the money you might have spent to make your own travel plans. You can findand check outreputable tour companies on the internet (cheaper) or through a travel agent.

In their response, AG appears to fault me for failing to contact them more oftenyet they state that I contacted them 10 times in a 16-month period (between June 2018 when I joined and October 2019). That's a fair amount of contact. It's true that I didn't ask to book a European vacation during each of those calls; I didn't always have the time or money. I did inquire about their European trips on more than one occasionand was open to going anywhere in Europe. But when their representative told me that the kinds of deals that Adventure Getaways used to bait me were just NOT something they had EVER OFFEREDasking again seemed moot. And I did let the company know I was dissatisfied, in a polite letter I wrote to them on June 29, 2020. I stated that I would wait three weeks before seeking third party assistance. I received no response to my letter, and so I contacted the Revdex.com on July 30, 2020.

Buyer beware! If it sounds too good to be true, it is. We attended the 90 minute presentation for their overpriced $8000 vacation club. In exchange we weregiven a dining certificate, air faire and hotels. During the presentation Adventure Getaways claimed they had a five star rating with the Revdex.com and it turns out they aren't even Revdex.com accredited! The dining certificate was a scame. We had to enter our credit card and pay aroun $15 to see the selection of restaurants. After we paid, we saw that there were no recognizable mainstream restaurants AND you had to purchase a large amount of food to be able to redeem them. Complete scam!

False and misleading advertising and deceitful sales practices.
Hello,

This is the complaint I am filing with the Revdex.com and with the Utah State attorney generals office. I don't like false, deceptive advertising, especially when someone *** gets up and tells what a great family the owners are, that all the owners are veterans and how they are making $75 million a year just off the annual membership fees, following a COSTCO business model.

They then told us that there was also a $8,995 membership fee, a $299 administration fee and $249 in annual dues, slightly more than Costco's membership. But none of that was the basis for this complaint. My complaint is for outright false and deceitful advertising.

My wife received an advertisement from Adventure Getaways LLC. It said:

"Join us for a 90 minute, fun filled presentation and in exchange for your attendance you will
receive (2) complimentary round trip airline vouchers. These vouchers are valid for travel
within the continental United States departing from most major international airports.
Some restrictions may apply.'

'In addition you will receive (2) two nights at one of over 1000 Marriott's, Hilton's, Hyatt's.
(Option to extend) The Retail Value is up to $980.'

'BONUS: For your attendance you will receive a $50 dining certificate, redeemable at 45,000+
locations nationwide."

A quick look at the dictionary reveals that "complimentary" means: 2 given or supplied free of charge: a complimentary bottle of wine.
2 given free as a courtesy or favor: complimentary tickets.

There was nothing in the advertisement or in any of the conversation with the scheduling person indicating that it was not free. Not only that, but Salt Lake is not even one of the International Airports from which you can fly using the complimentary vouchers. Very convenient considering all the recipients of the vouchers live in Utah.

We were not allowed to see the "complimentary" vouchers or certificates until after we sat through the presentation. In fact, we were specifically told after the presentation began that we would not be given the vouchers because we might leave.

I found it interesting that we were handed a $25 Target Gift Card by ***, our personal sales rep, when we sat down. Now I know it was to assuage the guilt, knowing that everything else we were promised would never be redeemed because it was a deceitful scam.

Once we received the certificate for "AirFare & Hotel For Two," we learned there was a "Non-refundable $50 processing fee" and a "$199 per person fee for all hotel taxes, airline taxes, transfers, airport fees, agency fees, etc. and these fees are based on a double occupancy requirement."

According to the definition of "complimentary" $448 certainly does not fit the definition and even if we had been told we would have to pay the taxes, that would be between $5 and $50 max for the airline tickets and maybe another $25 per night maximum for the hotels taxes. That's less than $100, but even that is not "complimentary."

Also, the dining certificate is not a $50 dining certificate. Instead, you will likely have to order at least $50 in food each time to get $25 off. Plus, You cannot even get the certificate until you first pay a $29.95 fee, making the total out-of-pocket $477.95.

All of this would have been fine if we had been told the real deal ahead of time and been given the opportunity to attend based on what was actually being offered, not some bait and switch, deceitful, scam offer. I will include a copy of the offer and the certificates to the Revdex.com and the Office of the Attorney General. We will also warn all our friends on social media not to be deceived by the false advertising.

I will wait until Friday, the 20th to see if you are going to do the right thing, which is to give the attendees what you said would be given and stop the false advertising. People make mistakes. It's what you do to fix them that matters most.

Desired Outcome

Would like to receive what they promised: (2) complimentary round trip airline vouchers. These vouchers are valid for travel within the continental United States departing from most major international airports. Some restrictions may apply.' 'In addition you will receive (2) two nights at one of over 1000 Marriott's, Hilton's, Hyatt's. (Option to extend) The Retail Value is up to $980.' 'BONUS: For your attendance you will receive a $50 dining certificate, redeemable at 45,000+ locations nationwide."

We have read the complaint very thoroughly and first would like to apologize for any misleading information as this is Not the way we handle our business and we always strive to make sure our customers are satisfied. We will take the necessary action directly with the customer to handle this complaint and ensure that the he has resolution to his complaint and will be done in a timely manner.
The invitation does state complimentary; however, it also states on the invitation that there are taxes and fees that would be due. No different than if you won a car, you would have pay the taxes on that vehicle. With this being said, the representatives that take the calls to set up the presentation appt also informs all callers that they would be responsible for the taxes and fees associated with the gifts. We will investigate internally to ensure that this is how all calls are being handled as we want everything to be Transparent and no "bait & switch" practices. Its just not how we do business. The mailed invitation also states MOST Major International Airports, which you can fly from, if that specific question would have been asked to the phone representative, they would've contacted the marketing company to verify if Salt Lake was one of the included Airports and would've provided that information to you as well.
We will also investigate internally our sales team and what is being said as what was in the complaint is not something we ask or suggest to be said. We have some newer sales representatives; however, everything said is expected to be upfront, honest and true. The focus is about saving money on travel which we do provide and have many testimonials of this.
We will never be able to please 100% of our customers, however, we will always strive to operate with integrity, honesty and be transparent. We in no way intentionally try to be deceptive or give misleading information. We truly do our best to inform our customers of all associated fees and it is their choice to attend or not to attend the presentation once the information is disclosed. We appreciate the concerns listed and will investigate how information is being relayed to all customers whether they attend or not, we will ensure that anything that is not being relayed appropriately will be corrected moving forward!

Beware of this company. We were offered plane tickets, vouchers and more to see a presentation. Luckily, we went to lunch and did an Internet search about Adventure Getaways LLC. We decided against their $8900/$6900/then $2900 deal. Thank goodness, reviews are terrible. They offer wholesale travel prices. I can't comment on that service because we didn't sign up. We did receive vouchers for plane tickets. You can get your free plane tickets after you pay $50, then $199 each for taxes, etc. So the free tickets, not so much. Also, weekends, and more, are not available. The $300 in restaurant vouchers are IF you pay $29.95 to be in Dining Savers Club. Then you get $25 per month for certain places. And each place may have conditions.

This company has issues in their advertising, which is false, in their contract, customer service, guarantee, and refund policies.I am posting because I do not want anyone else to be tricked into this membership. You will be angry. The company promises access to innumerable vacation locations for reduced pricing. They give access to a website that supposedly contains this huge variety of vacation locations at incredible rates. They hold meetings across the country in which potential clients are promised the world and asked to pay thousands of dollars in advance for nothing but their services.Thereafter, every service they offered is withdrawn. It begins with the most awful customer service representation I have ever experienced. To see that I am not exaggerating, call (XXX)XXX-XXXX as a customer would, and see what you think. I also called their quality control department at (XXX)XXX-XXXX and spoke to ***, who was actually the rudest of all. The company is quick to remind their clients that once they have your money, there is nothing you can do but tolerate them. As one example, we were planning a trip to the Phillipines and asked them to assist with accommodations. In the signup meeting, they promised to help with this specific need of ours. After they had our money, they could not help at all. They provided 3 locations that we were able to easily find online. The online pricing was from XXX-XXX dollars cheaper. The customer service reps were indifferent. This is the first time we were reminded that they had our money and would not refund anything. In other calls, we were told that there were no accommodations at all in the cities we requested them. NO ACCOMMODATIONS AT ALL IN THE CITY. We have a printed 'price match guarantee' that says 'we offer the lowest published fare available', 'we will either find a lower price or match your price GUARANTEED'. We will use this document in small claims. We have found both of their claims to be lies, and the company to be fraudulent.
Product_Or_Service: travel agency services
Account_Number: XXXXX

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I would like every cent of my money back. The amount is 1995. After this, I am going to court, to the media, and to the authorities.

Adventure Getaways Response • Jun 26, 2019

Good Afternoon,

I am responding to the complaint from the *** family and we are very disappointed in the accusations from this family.

Lets begin,

From the beginning this family states our advertising and our contracts are false where every state we are licensed we are thoroughly checked out by our business attorney to ensure we are legally sound

Our refund policy is a 3 day right of recision which we never ever received any request for such during the return policy of 3 days for the state of Kansas.

+++ The best part is this family actually booked a cruise with us,yes booked a cruise with us(2 cabins I would like to add) and while on the cruise they disputed their credit card for their membership purchase. They disputed their purchase twice and both attempts they lost their dispute from their own credit card company. I can provide proof of this if needed, They claim our pricing is so bad that they actually booked two cabins with us. after receiving huge discounts this family decided to attempt what is know as stealing, in my kind opinion their funds back after we delivered awesome pricing.

Now as for the customer service I have listened to all calls that Mr and Mrs *** and at not one time was our staff or my family rude to this family as we are a family ran business.

They said we did not help the, at all which again is false. They booked 2 cabins on a cruise ship with us,they also stated they found better prices online versus what we quoted, well come to find out the hotel they asked us for was completely a different hotel chain that they researched and was not an apples to apples comparison.

At the end of the day I personally feel our company/family went above and beyond for the *** family and we will continue to do so.

Our Travel Agency has an A+ with the Revdex.com and we also have local sheriffs and judges as members with us and many NFL players. Our attorney in Kansas is currently working on a law suit against this family for business slander(defamation).

In closing my grandfather always said go above and beyond for families and that is all you can do,you cant make everyone happy and this family respectfully is proof of that.

Let us know if you documentation of any quotes or bookings as well as credit card dispute losses, we will cooperate 100%

I apologize for any grammatical errors as I have never had to respond to any complaint in all these years,

Respectfully

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The response from the business is a lie. I have never been on any trip that this company has assisted me with. Their response and its tone is an example of the nasty customer service they offer.

At the point of sign-up, they requested the names of family and friends that would be interested in their services. As a result, other friends of ours used their assistance to book a trip. I dont know any of the details of this booking, because after trying to use their negligent assistance three times, we have only contacted them to request a refund. They are very difficult to locate and do not respond to attempts to communicate with them, as the Revdex.com has found. They have never responded to our requests for a refund or any satisfactory service.

Our credit card company refused to assist us strictly because of the agreement we signed that after 3 days no refund is possible. However, they also defaulted on the verbiage of that agreement. We have not used their services at all.

Additionally, I am seriously hoping that an attorney in Kansas will pursue this matter with us. We intend to pursue this matter in the media as well as the FTC, lets add a legal case as well. This is the only way we have gotten any response to our complaints.

Please also make this response as public as possible.
