I'm giving them one star because they are responsive although they made up reasons to come by and bill me when I didn't even need them-but taking 4 stars off because of the following: I repeatedly requested a bill but didn't get my first invoice for 3 months. During that time I had accrued $2000+ worth of services while not having any idea how billing was going to be. Had I received my first invoice at a month I would have discontinued their service. I found out that reading an email from me costs $85 per hour and they call it case management. Obviously I would have quit emailing them with anything that could have been shared with a friend instead. I found out that by not doing what they said they would do for me in the original contract and then being asked to do it (like asking for a bill or asking them to follow through on keeping a POA in the loop, or not getting my prescriptions which they said they would but didn't so I had to handle it myself and then kept them in the loop via email about my doing it) would be billed at $85 an hour. Who else gets to bill more for not doing their work to begin with? I found out that a meeting to introduce the staff member to friends who could then reach out to the staff if the Advocate Group services were needed, thereby saving me money, would end up costing me $85 per hour for 2 hours, while Mary B sat and drank coffee with us. My thought was she would leave after contact information was exchanged and introductions were made-when she didn't leave I assumed she was just enjoying the group and wouldn't bill for that extra time that had no value to me, her client anymore. I paid for her to join me at doctor appointments when her real focus was to be in the appointment to spend time with my doctors to drum up more contacts and business...after my appointment I was asked to leave while she used the remaining appointment time to continue talking to the neurologist who would not have had time for her without my appointment time scheduled. I could go on and on. I am incredibly disappointed with these "Christian" advocates. The owner and co-operator Tisha G are scammers. They didn't advocate for me-they appeared when I needed them but rarely followed through on anything even though they billed me for sitting in on things. They did not treat my finances with respect, they represented themselves in each situation. Yes, they are friendly and appear genuine but please don't be fooled. I learned the hard way.

Advocate Guardianship Response • Mar 06, 2020

In response to the above review, as a company we are truly sorry that she feels we were not able to provide her with a more than satisfactory experience. She is correct in asserting that our billing was not sent in a timely fashion. This happens periodically, as we work to put our clients and their immediate physical and emotional needs before getting reimbursed. We are constantly working to improve our systems to achieve a better balance in all our areas of service, without overlooking our own families with an exhaustive work load.
Our company does charge $85 dollars an hour for some of our services, which is the going rate in the industry; however, we charge by the minute, instead of a fixed rate of time per exchange. When clients email us and there are action items to address or contacts to make based on the exchange, we do bill according to our rates provided to and contracted for prior to start of service.
Our clients are never billed for services that do not pertain to their care. For example, if a physician needed to speak with us about another matter, the cost of that interaction would be subtracted from a client’s time.
In this particular case, we provided hours of service and support that were not charged, due to respecting the client’s finances. We advocated for move-in costs to be reduced based on television advertising promises in two separate meetings. The promises that were made from management regarding the reduction would have more than paid for the total costs of our services to the client. We were asked to travel out of state for a medical appointment, spent almost an entire day rearranging staff schedule’s, flights, etc. and then were informed the plan had been changed. The client was not billed for any of our time in that matter. The meeting with the POA that was mentioned had to be extended due to a flight delay of approximately 45 minutes. In this meeting contact information was gathered from friends in order to assist the client going forward.
We would also like to note that our company policy is not to abandon clients who run out of resources. As owners, we absorb the costs of caring for our clients until they pass away or no longer need our services.
Again, we are sorry that the client feels we are “scammers” and not Christians. We have been in business for almost 13 years with countless clients and families that appreciate what we do despite the difficult challenges of the population we serve. We are thankful that God knows our true motives and the intentions of our hearts as we try our best to care for others.

The Advocate Group has been assisting our mother for the last three years. We are so grateful for them! We live 2000 miles away and wanted to support our mother's independence while living with Alzheimer's, but we needed some help. From the beginning they have been a true support to our family, not just in effectively handling all her medical care and appointments, but in caring for her---literally and figuratively---as we take this journey together. They were essential in helping us choose an assisted living facility. And, as the disease progressed, to gently guide us in making the decision to move to a memory care facility and to choose just the right one. All along they handled our questions, given us updates, and educated us in addition to providing loving care to our mother. It has been a difficult journey, but made so much easier and more manageable with the guidance and support of The Advocate Group. I actually don't know how we could have done it without them. We cherish this lovely group of people. Best choice we could have made teaming up with them!

We have know Mary and Tisha for many years and never in a million years did we ever think we would need their services! We could not have maneuvered all of the areas we needed to know about when placing my mom in a memory care facility without Mary and The Advocate Group, LLC's combined experience! Mary and her team are incredible to work with, when they don't know the answer to your problem/question they jump right on the problem/question to get a resolution. They are able to explain the process and perform what ever you need done or assist you along the way. We are very grateful for their assistance in our time of need.
